Description: The Conservatory Restaurant, at the delightful Boxmoor Lodge in Hemel...
The Conservatory Restaurant, at the delightful Boxmoor Lodge in Hemel Hempstead, is a friendly, family owned business with an exceptional modern British menu. The light-filled dining room has crisp linens, garden views and fresh flowers, and the service is faultless. The Head Chef at Boxmoor Lodge, Stuart Ambury, oversees a kitchen that prides itself on high-quality GM free ingredients and creative presentation. Starters such as a fine Crisp tempura tiger prawns, mango & mint salad with ponzu dipping sauce or Baked fresh figs with Cumbrian dry aged ham, celeriac remoulade and port syrup are bound to tempt you. And the main course selection includes some mouth watering treats like the roasted rack of lamb, beautifully presented with pea puree, fresh peas & lamb essence, the lamb is cooked just right, very succulent and seasoned well. Then there is also the local Aylesbury duckling from Mr Waller, using the breast which is roasted perfectly pink with a crispy skin, crisp leg croquette with a rich orange & honey sauce. The restaurant also has a wonderful wine list and a superb outside dining area for the alfresco experience.

Party catering is always the hardest test for a restaurant. To serve everyone quickly and also to offer second helpings is a sign of a well organised kitchen. The food is excellent and hot. All the Guests have heaped compliments onto Mark, Stuart and the team. We have already booked to come for a normal evening meal.

I have been staying at Boxmoor Lodge once again and just need to report that, as always, the place is very welcoming. Luckily no wedding ceremony/reception this weekend. But on this occasion can I report that breakfast is a real treat - as it is served in the conservatory restaurant and everything is freshly prepared. The staff really are very... More

We came here after reading the reviews and deciding to try. The decor is stuck somewhere in the eighties and the tables are a bit formal with white table clothes, but the staff are friendly. The food was fantastic, better than we had expected. We went for Sunday lunch, which is amazing value for money, and beautifully presented. If you... More

Food here is of an excellent standard, good choice on Menu and everything served in a Beautful Dinning Room with a very nice outside Terrace adjacent to the dinning room. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for one night and as we arrived fairly late in the evening, exhausted and hungry, we were not very excited about driving around looking for somewhere to eat. They had room for us at their restaurant and so we ate there, and we are very glad we did. There were five of us and we all enjoyed... More

Nice small dining room and better than you'd expect from a small lodge. Still the service and cooking feels very personal, almost like a home cooked meal with restaurant touch.

Having been here for Sunday lunch several times before a family group of nine of us returned recently for a repeat experience and were not disappointed. The menu is fairly limited in choice but this means that all the available dishes are fresh and well prepared. Between us I think we sampled most of the starters and no one was... More
