Went here with colleague from work whilst staying in Hemel. Great pub and beer garden. Food was good, was a little slow in coming out and then all seemed to come at once, our starters were very quickly followed by ours mains! Prices were ok for this type of pub but work was paying so didn't really matter!!

Poor waiter service, over priced, terrible garden design(try carrying 5 drinks back from the bar on a tray to the lower level), tiny portions, always an excuse for messed up orders, music too loud, and try eating a pie without a plate. Never again.

Went last Tuesday lunchtime. Nice setting, lovely garden and well appointed. BUT what a disappointment with food. Generally over-priced - you need a mortgage for the smallest of portions. Every one of five guests complained but no offer of apology etc. Particularly noticeable was a 'Sharing' Platter of English cold meats with garlic bread & pickle etc. at £16.95p! It... More

We arranged for a lunchtime meal for 9 people for a Retirement celebration. The table was booked for 1230 and admittedly some of our party were late, so we were shown to the table at 1250. We ordered; the starters arrived at 1350 with one short, which had to be cooked from scratch and finally arrived around 1410. We were... More

This is a lovely place to eat. It's clean and modern inside with a lovely unique kind of menu. The waitresses are knowledgable and efficient and the food is wonderful.well worth a visit.

I have visited this restaurant many times over the years. Always get a lovely meal in great surroundings. Last night was no exception. There is always a good choice and the service is friendly and attentive.

Great food, both nibbles and main courses. Equally as nice to eat n the bar or restaurant. There never seem to be enough bar staff thought, either that or my arrival timing is poor.

The food was excellent as usual however the staff were fighting a losing battle. They knew nothing of the website advertised Fathers Day menu and deal. The bar served us a short measure of sherry in a tumbler. My reservation hadn't been recorded in the book and we were 20 minutes late getting to our table. We then discovered all... More

When the hand dryer in the toilet is broken, there are no paper towels for drying hands, the tables are filthy and mostly not cleared, the staff chatting about inane issues and people are waiting to be served, maybe this should have indicated that the Marchmont was not the place it used to be. The lovely member of staff behind... More
