The Duke's Head serves modern British cuisine in the heart of the quintessential Essex village. 'Village Pub & Dining' explains our concept perfectly. A warm, friendly, atmospheric pub, which happens to do excellent, locally sourced food! Along with friendly, helpful service, perfect pints and very good wine, this is somewhere that anyone would like to spend a few hours. Relaxing on our sunny patio under pretty parasols, with the children running in the garden or hiding in the quaint tree house or warming you feet in front of a roaring fire, with your dog by your side! Whatever the weather, a warm welcome is always guaranteed at The Duke's Head.

A delicious Sunday lunch in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere

We really enjoyed our visit to the Duke's Head. Our party (5 adults and 6 children) were well looked after and enjoyed a variety of roast dinners - all of which were of a healthy size and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back and recommending friends and family give it a try.

Food was lovely but the poor review relates to the service. The food took an age to arrive, we waited 40 minutes for our dessert to arrive. We were in there for over three hours all told. Not all the food arrived with the main and I was quite annoyed when our waitress told us we couldn't have bread to... More

Sorry to say this was not a good meal it was Sunday roast, and the Yorkshire puddings were so hard we all left them the meal did not have that great Sunday roast taste very disappointed and will not be going again it was expensive for a very untasty meal. The staff were told about the puddings but nobody came... More

Have visited The Dukes Head twice for brunch and once for lunch. The most recent occasion being a family brunch for 8 adults and a couple of little ones, food was great and everything came out together, great service, lovely setting, will be back for sure.

I have eaten here many times now and have never been disappointed. It really is great quality, freshly prepared food, with friendly service, and a regular drop in for me as it is less than 10 mins from Stansted airport. It isn't cheap. But neither should it be... If you are looking for cheap re-heated food, you will have to... More

We had a lovely two course Sunday Lunch for 4 adults here, it would have been three course, but due to poor quality of service it was only two. There is only so long(30mins) after mains that one can wait for; 1. Someone to give or bring you the dessert menu, without, as I had to, going up and asking... More

I visited here with some work colleagues the other week and had a good experience overall! I had the 'Baked 'Imam Bayildi' & halloumi fritters' which was a very nice dish and something I had never tried before. The setting is lovely and staff were friendly! My only slight complaint is that we waited over an hour for our main... More

Sunday evening meal at The Dukes Head.Excellent roasts from local produce but I had locally sourced pork sausages mash and thyme and onion gravy.Lovely home cooked at a good price. Sweets also well thought out and slightly different like the honeycomb moose with popcorn and chocolate.good range of beers and lagers ,2 of which were Rock Brewery.

We called into the Dukes head on a particular hot Saturday evening and took our drinks into the garden. The inside of the pub has been renovated to a high standard but the garden has been very neglected. Whilst enjoying the sun the owners dogs were allowed to come into the garden and promptly used it as a toilet. Judging... More
