Sunday Lunch With The Family

Tried this pub for the first time with my husband and 2 adult daughters for Sunday lunch. Lovely location in the countryside not far from Hatfield. Lots of walking so I believe. Arrived for lunch at 2pm. Very busy bar and all tables full - luckily we had booked. Had drink at bar first as our table... read more

A wonderful pub in the middle of nowhere (relatively) the staff were welcoming and friendly and allocated us a table next to the open fire, as a bonus the beer was well selected and on form. There was a wide range of food which included many locally sourced ingredients, minor gripe a little thin on the vegetarian options all in... More

Fabulous 21st birthday meal for my son at The Candlestick Pub. Delicious home cooked food in delightful setting. Pre meal circular walk built up a good appetite, the three meat roast defeated the birthday boy ! Delightful friendly staff who really made us all feel very welcome. Thank you. Will definitely be back.

Came here after a walk on a very cold and frosty day and were welcomed and shown to a table near the fire, even to ordering our drinks at the table "Sit here and relax, we'll sort your drinks". Ordered light lunches and found that all the food was good and portions good, too. We all took cards with a... More

Have recently visited the Candlestick for dinner in a group of 8. Love the fact that it is tucked away off the main roads in a semi rural location. The pub is welcoming and the bar staff attentive to our group, which included 2 young children. Have been many times now and find the food fantastic especially the specials board... More

Went here with my mother and my children for an early Christmas celebration last weekend. Lovely pub out in the sticks as I am so used to town life. Pub was bright and clean and the menu was interesting. My husband had the pheasant kiev which he said was delicious. We all enjoyed our meals and would definitely return again.... More

The pub was busy and even at that time of the afternoon they were people still lunching. The pub atmosphere was good, once the the locals warmed up to you, But this is really on the food side that this pub live up to its legend. Despite the continuous service the meat was excellent and this is one of the... More

Use to go here a few years ago but this was the first time for a long while. Not the greatest choice on the menu but they do a special board each day and they change the main menu every two months. Found the food very good and the home made soup 5 star. Been on a Sunday three times now... More

Staff are always friendly and helpful. They will always offer alternative vegetables to the set menu. Cooked from fresh and tastes like it-different from chain restaurants.
