A lovely stop for refreshments

We returned to the master builders 34 years after we spent our honeymoon there. This time we stayed elsewhere as the rooms were fully booked but we came for lunch and drinks. Visited over the bank holiday weekend so as expected reasonably busy. Good outdoor seating which is dog friendly , and super views over the river. Opted for the BBQ , salmon and lemon chicken with the 'help yourself ' salad bar. We both thought that the food was good and reasonably priced. Service was fine considering the queue and the... Want to go and stay at this hotel. Terrible wasp problem so had to sit inside - shared the fish platter which was really tasty. Had a lovely relaxed lunch - well worth the visit.

Excellent food; very well presented; excellent service; superb wine list. Not cheap but value for money. May need to book. Off the beaten track.

Fantastic afternoon tea with plain and fruit scones, jam cream and a tray of little cakes. there was ample tea and coffee. Also a tray of finger sandwiches with four different fillings.

A group of us (4 ladies on a 50th birthday celebration) canoed to this pub on an activity arranged through New Forest Activities. The setting is so beautiful, the food from their outdoor BBQ was great (reasonable prices and a wide choice). We relaxed there until the sun went down. The staff were very helpful and friendly at all times.... More

We had to move inside from the terrace due to wasps - suggest they burn some citronella incense in the future as an effective deterrent. Had to wait over an over for the main courses. My well done sirloin steak looked like a shrunken chop with little or no taste and at £22.00 was not value for money. I recently... More

Booking a table led to the impression there might be some competition for space but a virtually empty room linked to another empty room evidenced a different story. The menu is limited, unimaginative, not cheap and when it finally arrives, unexciting- it was at least hot. Having eaten outside on previous occasions I knew a less pretentious menu was available... Ate in the restaurant this evening. A little disappointed with value for money. Food was nicely presented but seemed to take a long time to arrive. The pork was not as easy to digest or as succulent as my husband's lamb, the little piece of pork crackling that came with the meal tasted a bit stale, definitely no crackle! Although... More
