Food and service both acceptable - we ate here as we couldn't get into the Terrace next door. The staff could do with a few lessons from the Terrace waiting team. I shall be more organised in the future and make sure I book well in advance.

We often end up here, in the bar, for a relaxed lunch reading the papers. Food is traditional, well done pubfood. There is normally a good veggie option too. Dogs are welcome, and the staff are normally very friendly. Gets extremely busy on sunny weekends

We ate dinner here during a short break to the new forest. As it is attached to such a well regarded hotel we hoped that the standards would be similar. We were very disappointed. The service was intermittent. The food was average (what I would expect to eat in a cheap pub), and therefore hugely overpriced in this expensive venue.... More

After a lovely morning exploring the area, it was time to have lunch. We were promptly greeted and shown to a table. We had the Ploughmans lunch with ham and cheddar cheese and a cheddar and apple chutney sandwich on brown bread. If I have to be honest- the Ploughmans was dull- ham was dry, salad was limp, pickled onions... More

Great little hotel, the bar area has a large log fire which was very welcome on a cold February night. The food is excellent and there is a wide choice of dishes along with specials such as Thai fish cakes. Well worth a visit

Went in here for a drink before lunch at the Terrace Restaurant (see separate review) because I wanted a pint of real ale, something the Terrace Restaurant's own bar doesn't do. The beer was fine but my wife's kir was appalling, far, far to much cassis. It was made as if it were Ribena being diluted in water! For a... More

That says it all really .. the only mystery to us was the 'Beef Burger' which was £15! Price not in proportion with the rest of the lunch menu and when someone on a table close-by ordered it, it didn't look any more impressive than burgers we've seen in other pubs!! That said, the drinks were great, service great, lunch... More

Got to Beaulieu at 4:30 in afternoon so restaurant was closed, decided to have a coffee in the pub & was offered a cute tasty cup cake as we were disappointed restaurant was closed. Very nice touch. We were so comfortable by open log fire & cosy pub atmosphere that we stayed there till restaurant opened. Menus were brought to... More

We visited Monty's after a walk from Bucklers Hard and sat by the fire in the comfy sofas. Staff were great and the food/coffees lovely.

My husband and I stayed at The Montagu Arms Hotel next door, but unfortunately was not open for my birthday on the tuesday night, so we ended up going to Monty's next door! Apparently they share a kitchen. I don't normally have steak out, as it's simple enough to do at home, but I really fancied one. I also had... More
