Stopped off for lunch whilst walking. We were not looking for anything special other than pub grub and a pint to keep us fuelled up. The beer/ales on offer were great, good selection and well priced. The food was hot, looked home prepared (rather than microwaved or a standard meal that you get at a pub chain) a good plate... More

A firm favorite - lovely beer garden. Always friendly service and good quality food, a tad pricey though!

We booked for 6pm so the four children in our party (aged 2,5,5,8) could eat at a reasonable time. The meal started to arrive after 7pm after we complained about the time it was taking. Instead of feeding the children first their meals arrived last! Two of the children had asked for the children's burger meal. What they got was... More

Popped in for Sunday lunch with family. Good beer, tasty whitebait and all had roasts. Well executed. Plenty of food. Gravy a bit nondescript. The attention and service from the young team was excellent. Solid performance.

Lovely warm welcome from staff and a home made burger to die for. Everything was freshly cooked. The apple crumble was big enough for two but it was so good I ate the lot! Friendly atmosphere and ponies on the green opposite made it very picturesque too.

As I live in Lyndhurst and drive past everyday but had never been in my boyfriend and me decided to give it a go as we'd had a bad experience earlier in the day. What a refreshing pub! The staff are lovely and polite. The owner served us and came to check on our meal. The roast was absolutely gorgeous... More

Went here for a Sunday lunch for my sisters birthday. We pre booked a table for 2pm sitting as expected it to be fairly busy as it is a weekend. We arrived within plenty of time however our table wasn't ready until 2:40pm so at this point we were already feeling let down. We ordered our food straight away as... More

We stopped for a beer and sandwich en route to Lyndhurst. As an intro to the New Forest this a good start. Good beer (though not cheap), good sandwiches, pleasant outside seating overlooking a green with cows and ponies wandering about. Would certainly return.

We were staying at the Stoney Cross Travelodge and found this pub via Tripadvisor. The drive was quick and the scenery enroute was lovely. The food was excellent - not your usual pub food, more like restaurant quality with pub sized portions!! The 'specials' were particularly interesting. inviting. The prices are not cheap, but certainly provide value for money. The decor... More
