Lunchtime Visit

We were treated by our daughter to lunch at this wonderful place. The buildings, grounds and warm welcome were all excellent. It was our first visit and worth the 40 minute drive. The four of us all had the lunchtime special which had a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 dessert. The choices... read more

I had high hopes of eating here and on the plus side the food was excellent. However, a good dining experience is also made up of the ambience of the restaurant and the service. My first disappointment was our table for two. We had a table in the corner and instead of a chair each, we had a shared corner... More

We have been here several times for lunch just the two of us, or have met and have taken friends here. Overall good, always like to sit in the bar area before going in as its lovely, light and open. The service and food are good but not a fan of those seats in the corners. They are way too... More

Always excellent food but patchy service - sometimes excellent, sometimes inattentive and inexperienced

One of those rare restaurants in the UK, one that knows how to cook Italian food properly - pasta dishes are all suburbs, properly sauced and full of flavour Service is friendly, setting is beautiful

We went for an early evening meal as a birthday treat for my husband. Our experience was the polar opposite to the poor reviews on TA. We found all the staff warm polite and professional. We had the 5 course tasting menu which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Our favourite was the tomato and anchovy risotto. It was so tasty and... More

We had dinner twice in the restaurant and were disappointed both times. Both times we had to wait a very long time to even be asked if we wanted water, let alone ordering wine or cocktails. When the drinks came they were wrong. The service was delivered by what appeared to be untrained students. No charm, very grumpy and not... More

We where looking forward to some outstanding food here, but were disappointed with the end result. There were four of us dining and we all agreed that the service surrounding etc were excellent, but the food did not match. Our started when served were appealing and the tasted matched the look, and were enjoyed by all. Our main however was... More

The food was decent, especially the two course set lunch for £19.50. I had beetroot and smoked salmon salad then plaice with fennel and capers for main course, and both courses were fresh, tasty and well presented (although very slow to appear, despite being on the set menu). The roast lamb main was also excellent. Unfortunately service seemed poorly trained... More

Went for lunch with whole family to the kitchen table at HHC. Great welcome from the start and we were made to feel comfortable. It is a kitchen table, so dont expect arm rests or backs, you are sitting on a bench, but in THEIR kitchen. Food was sublime, plentiful, tasty, fresh and each dish and the workings of the... More
