Again approached with caution due to some of the reviews here but the setting was so lovely we thought we'd venture in and see what we thought. We were greeted by a bustling and friendly atmosphere. We ordered drinks easily from a very friendly barman and checked the menu out - we're not meat eaters but there were good fish... More

What a shame. Such a perfect day and perfect setting; but the food was about the most terrible I have encountered anywhere. Not just mine, a solid luke warm congealed cannelloni; but also my colleagues who had different food. I am not sure I have ever complained before, but am now trying to get in touch with the owners (a... More

Went out for a birthday meal. Price excellent and portions were large. Away from it all venue. Recommended

The location in the New Forest near Rufus Stone is great. It is a nice building with ponies grazing opposite so very picturesque. The staff were all very nice and helpful but the food was mixed. Some meals looked excellent and got great feedback from the rest of the family (fish salad, fish & chips, blazin' chicken), but a couple... More

We came here for a family lunch. It was easy to book a table for fourteen. The staff were friendly and the food was good with good prices. A lovely setting with a nice stroll to Rufus Stone!

Stopped here for a drink whilst out on a bike ride. Perfectly welcoming to us in our muddy outfits, and very efficient service. Toilets clean, and food looked and smelt great. Well worth a visit, have eaten there before and would recommend this place to all.

Went here untainted by previous reviews, my and a friend's family had been walking locally and, with our car park a stone's throw for the pub, decided to stay for dinner rather than head straight home. I was actually pretty disappointed by my meal, the specials board had a couple of french classics on it and I went for the... More

We went (on recommendation) with friends before our walk in the New Forest on Easter sunday. Greeted by a very grumpy landlord, we ordered what has to be the worst sunday lunch ever. 'Roast beef' that was grey/beige, savoy cabbage with a very bitter taste, along with peas and carrots and gravy. All tepid and very inedible. An insult to... More

Last weekend I took my young family to the Sir Walter Tyrrell for a pub meal. We were delighted with the food and service. Decent hot food served by friendly staff. The fact there was a large play area for the kids was a big bonus! Highly recommended.
