We visited the pub last Saturday lunchtime and it soon became apparent that the new owner had inherited a host of problems which I'm sure in time will be resolved. We ordered the baguettes which then came with the wrong choice of bread we asked for it to be changed only to be fobbed off with that they had run... More

Had a lovely relaxed lunch here. The food was very good. Staff were absolutely lovely. They had two roaring fires which were a delight to sit next too, in such cold weather. Will definately be going back.

Had a great meal in the most beautiful setting. Everyone was so welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The traditional open fires made it cosy too. I would definitely recommend a visit and we will be going back soon!

My husband and I visited The Sir Walter Tyrrell for lunch with two of our friends. We were immediately greeted by a smiley young lady called Charlie who got us seated by the warm fire with menus and took a drinks order. We only had a main corse each, but each meal was lovely. We did not have to wait... More

Given the poor reviews following the change in management I was hesitant to go here but it was handy for a run from Rufus Stone and has a good playground for the kids. It was about half 12 on a Sunday and, although the pub was more than half empty, they had a couple of large bookings due so would... More

I visited as part of a group of seven booked on Sunday afternoon. There were three very big parties in as well as a number of couples and families. We had to wait a while for our first course then when it arrived one of the soup dishes was barely warm. We then waited too long for our mains, albeit... More

Having booked a New Year's Day gathering in advance we arrived to confusion to what had been booked in that day and whether any of the bookings could be 'fitted in' as they had changed management and the previous management had taken the bookings beyond capacity. During our visit the pub started off being very busy then eased-off during the... More

A lovely English country pub in the New Forest with good beer, extensive gardens with play facilities for children and excellent parking. Convenient to some beautiful walks and dog friendly. What more could you want? Well some decent food would help a lot. Four of us ate here and all were disappointed with our meals. Would go back for a... More

A group of 9 of us were walking in the New Forest & had booked this meal. When we arrived we were told that there was only a limited food menu & that we needed to order quickly. Coffee came which was cold. We waited a good 40 minutes for the food which was pretty poor to say the least.They... More

I visited a few days ago and was extremely horrified by the whole experience. The service was sloppy, slow and in no way acceptable. The food was not as described on the menu, I had a simple dish, a lasagne, the lasagne looked undercooked and tasted as if it came out of a packet. I saw the head chef come... More
