Lunch whilst camping in the new forest

Food was absolutely gorgeous, would go back for the food. The service however was very poor myself and family felt the staff were quite short with us. Our deserts arrived and the plates from our mains had not yet been taken away. I had to ask a member of staff to take the plates away as we had no... read more

Visited this pub with my Dad as he had been a few years previously. From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be a bad experience. The place was completely empty at 1pm on a Bank Holiday Saturday. The menus were propped on a stand, they were red, white and laminated, which just looked cheap and... More

Thank you for your review, I have taken your comments to the team but as we ask if people talk to us regarding problems we can rectify them there and then. We are changing our menu's on a regular basis and you will find main course Nacho's on a lot of other menu's around the industry. I am sorry you... More

Thank you for your comments regarding our food and service. We are constantly looking at ways of improving our service but unfortunately a couple of the team did not turn up for work that day which left us little short. We are constantly recruiting for our team and trying to improve our service to the customer. Once again thank you... More

This is a return visit and can honestly say that it was a great afternoon. Really dont understand the negative comments on here, great new menu and specials board with a doggy dinner too. The staff are super friendly and helpful , one of our party is a very fussy eater and Lucy was most helpful in accommodating them and... More

Stumbled across this whilst looking for somewhere for a fussy child to eat. Was so much to choose from, he ended up with an all day breakfast. Great service from the chap behind the bar, food arrived very quickly. We are all big eaters and all of us had food left on our plate, the portions were big and the... More

A nice enough, fairly ordinary, rural pub. The food was good and the portions substantial. It was served quickly. There is an excellent kids playground in the garden. The pub stands on the edge of the open Forest and is a good base for walks. Real ale, but no real cider.

Thought we'd have a nice Sunday lunch out at a pub we've driven by a few times which is in a great location. The roast was a complete disappointment the lamb was fatty and gristly and the potatoes came out cold, looking burnt and tasting like they'd been deep fat fried to reheat, the Yorkshire puddings were cold and the... I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit. Lucy is a very good member of the team and I am sure that had she have been passed the information she would have dealt with it, alternatively I am always on site and the team should have come and got me. Once again I am sorry and will... More

We have been camping at a local campsite for several years and have previously enjoyed every visit to this pub with great food and drinks at reasonable prices. This pub is in a great location, the staff are very pleasant and the pub could do very well indeed. However I have visited twice this year (in April and August) for... More

Thank you for your comments, we did take the business over in November last year and talking to the locals which are now eating and drinking with us there is a vast improvement. We have always visited this pub when we camp near by and have always had an enjoyable evening with good food, friendly staff and reasonably priced too. We visited this summer and were very disappointed. There has recently been a change of management and while they have given the place a coat of paint to brighten it up I'm afraid... More

I an sorry you were disappointed with your last visit to us. I have been heavily recruiting a new Kitchen team which is now showing the rewards and hard work we have all put in. The locals have been telling us everything is better than it was which is a good sign, so hopefully see you again. More
