Food has gone downhill

I've visited this pub/restaurant on numerous occasions since I was a child and we used to have family outings to the forest near by. We have lived in the area for over 25 years and visited this pub dozens of times. It is one of those places that gets overrun with tourists in the summer months and so as a rule we have always tended to visit it outside of holiday times. We visited in mid April and the pub was as full as... More

12 of us turned up without making a prior booking - the staff were very accommodating, found us a table and served us quickly. Brilliant pub to visit with children on a sunny day as there is a lovely play area, dogs are welcome too. The food is standard fayre but overall the experience was welcoming!

We have frequented this establishment for many a year, normally we would always look forward to a return visit, however, we will not be returning given the experience today. We were well versed with the popularity of the new forest pub so we pre-booked for our party of nine. On arrival the front door was locked, this should of been... More

We had visited here 3 years ago and remember a charming pub with great food. Therefore we were surprised to read the reviews here regarding the terrible service. However after our visit today I'm sad to say we witnessed it first hand. We had booked a table for 2pm but on arrival we found our table had been given away... More

We spent a few days in the New Forest and had eaten at the Sir Walter Tyrell before on a previous trip, so we knew how lovely the location was, although on this trip we ate in the evenings, just as the day was fading into night. The pub's lights were welcoming through the gathering dusk, the staff were friendly... More

What an awful experience! We have just left this place having been told that our food order didn't even make it to the kitchen. When told the wait for food was half an hour that was fine, we chased it after an hour and found out the kitchen didn't even have our order. While we were waiting for a refund... More
