I have driven past this pub many times, attracted by the signs outside and wondered what it was like inside. One lunchtime I went in and was very disappointed by the worn interior and tatty garden. The welcome was good, food service quick but the quality of the food was disappointing. Could be so much better!

First time in the pub, looks nice from the outside and nice on the inside. Order food from the bar. I ordered the cheese and bacon burger and a latte. Sat down coffee came, i think it was ordinary coffee with a bit of hot milk thrown on top. Took one sip very bitter. Disgusting. Asked member of staff to... More

A friend and I had spotted a chalkboard sign outside this pub last Saturday morning stating there was live music and BBQ in the evening. We worked out our day and looked forward to attending it. However, on arriving at 7pm, the very inattentive bar staff girls, eventually told us the sign was from last weekend. They raised their eyes... More

It is my second time here at this pub in lyndhurst!!!! I came with my two friends which today was their first visit to the new forest town. I was pleased with the staff as they were very friendly and chatty prior to my last visit which I was served by a man who was sitting at the bar on... More

Had a late lunch at the Crown Stirrup today. Lovely outdoor facilities (apart from a dollop of dog poo in the garden). Food and service not up to scratch. My food and drink order both wrong. Farmer's Ploughman's was very poor. The bread was half a small and cardboardy baguette that had been either toasted or warmed up in the... More

The food here was not great. We had ham, egg and chips and our kids had tuna mayonnaise paninis and an extra portion of chips. Our ham was not great and there was no sign of any mayonnaise in the paninis and the tuna was very dry. However, the eggs and chips were good, the staff were friendly and the... More

We often stay at a campsite nearby and have passed the pub an numerous occasions and this time we decided to go in for a drink - what a let down at the state of the pub! It is grubby and unkept!

We had burgers from the burger menu...very nice! Great value, especially as a local getting a 15% discount! Pleasant staff and very happy to see a nice comfy sofa in the pub! Looking forward to visiting again

We stopped here for lunch and were impressed by the outside facilities for children. The food was traditional pub grub. All well cooked and plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful.
