Very good

Went in after a little walk around on a day out to new forest. It was a Saturday about 12.30 but managed to find a table easily. We found the staff friendly and pub was clean. The food was some of the best pub food we have had in a while. Me and my daughter had the 2 for £14.... read more

I went into the pub with my boyfriend after a long lovely walk through the new forest. It said that they were showing the rugby so we popped in to watch. As soon as we walked in it was a bit of a strange atmosphere, immediately we felt like the odd ones out in the pub. There was a tv... More

weekend cycle trip around the new forest and Lyndhurst looked like a suitable place to stop for lunch. This was the first pub we saw coming in on the road from Dibden and it had somewhere we could secure the bikes out the front. All we needed then was decent service and good food which I am happy to report... More

Having been forced to leave two previous venues, one because they said they were full (didn't look like it) and the other due to appalling service, we alighted up this gem....Nothing flash, nothing exciting. Excellent, quick and friendly service and good, sensible, food at very reasonable prices...2 meals for £14:00 Happy Campers!!

I have been to some inhospitable places in the world but this beats. Most hands down we entered it was like a canteen we waited. To be acknowledged this did not happen untill I asked if the man behind bar watching golf was going to serve but we were still ignored. So we left

We called in here for a carvery and were offered a very small serving of meat (which was beautifully cooked) but two surly women standing at the bar, no smile or welcoming feel. The vegetables were under cooked and leeks in white sauce were not seasoned at all, rendering them tasteless. We will not visit again

Visited on a sunny Monday afternoon, and intended to choose 2 of the low priced blackboard meals, but opted for 2 rump steaks instead when we noticed the sign on the bar. Food was cooked to order, and we really enjoyed it, well cooked steak (medium as we'd asked) which is unusual as not everyone can seem to get this... More

Friday 19 September - 6.30pm. Even though it was so early all the tables inside the pub were showing reserved signs so I asked the guy at the bar (I guess he was the owner) if he had any tables free. His manner was very pleasant as he explained we could have a choice of a couple as long as... More
