Enjoyed the food

We went to celebrate my birthday. Jane is so welcoming when you arrive. We saw her husband the chef for a few minutes and he too seems friendly. The food is really good. We have stayed here 3or4 times. This was the first time we have just been for a meal. Jane always has a chat and is very welcoming. Food excellent. Starters we had Smoked Haddock Galettes, Mains;-Sea bream and Chicken Italian Style. Deserts: Licorice Ice cream and Hazlenut parfait . Drinks and Wine Bill totalled £130 for the 2 of us.

The chef here really knows his stuff especially his saucing/jus. A varied menu with good choices for each course, if a little pricey.Worth the money, I hasten to add. Jane made us feel very welcome and somehow found time to chat with everybody and made the occasion personal and memorable. The decor is a little dated, but you soon forget... More

A welcome return visit to enjoy the a la carte menu on a Saturday lunchtime and upon hearing that Mike had been foraging for mushrooms that very morning I chose the mushroom soup which, combined with Jayne's homemade oat bread was excellent. My husband's starter of faggots and liver was equally delicious. Our mains were bream and pheasant and Mike's... More

The food was good but rather a 1990s menu. Strolling around the gardens was lovely. They're well cared for & beautiful. However the decor of the restaurant & rooms needs updating ASAP. The time for 1980s pine has gone. Somebody else's towel on the bathroom door was not pleasant, and nor was the spider's web around the taps. This could... More

Myself and my fiancé went here recently to celebrate our anniversary. We were recommended to go here from a family member. Ohhhhh wow the food was amazing. We both had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. I may even stretch to say it was the best meal I've ever had! We will definitely be returning! Thank you

Have heard nothing but excellent reviews so decided to visit as it was special occasion. As a vegetarian there wasn't a vegetarian option only lots if fish dishes, staff were lovely and friendly but food for us didn't live up to the expectation we were led to believe so disappointed and very expensive ( which you don't mind paying for... I am perplexed by your comments which are untrue as we have at least 3/4 vegetarian options on the starters at all times & a repertoire of bespoke main courses which we offer, tailored around whether you are a lacto or a vegan vegetarian.I was also perplexed when reading one of your other reviews that one of your favourite dishes is...
