We had some very special guests joining us, so we wanted to find the perfect place. And we did! The setting, service, food, wine and atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend the crab starter and the Venison main, and will definitely be returning. Thank you

We went to the Peat Spade Inn today to celebrate my Mum's 70th birthday. We booked in advance and were able to have the Mayfly Mess which is a lovely room above the main pub. It is spacious and accommodated all 16 of us, plus a puppy with ease. We were also able to use the terrace which adjoined the... More

Stopped on the off chance for a snack lunch having seen the sign 'beer battered cockles'. A very popular Inn and we were lucky to be able to eat without a reservation on a Saturday lunchtime. Booking is advisable. Three good ales on offer and the Longhorn Burger was cooked to perfection - on the rare side, so succulent. The... More

We enjoyed our lunch very much, it is an attractive location, we ate inside but there is a nice area to eat outside as well if the weather is good. The service was friendly, our waitress was very helpful and the food was very good. The menu has a varied selection of interesting dishes and I would certainly come here... More

Steaks were chewy, bouillabaisse was cold and some of the cockles weren't open. We felt neglected sitting in the back room although when staff did appear they were attentive. We waited for over an hour for our main courses to arrive. The only redeeming feature was that they knocked the mains and puddings off the bill. Rightly so. Won't be... More

What a great find is the Peat Spade. From arriving to a crystal glass of rare gin, to the Portland Crab to some herb crusted lamb the whole supper was something so completely special. The service was excellent too, polite, unobtrusive and honest about what we might enjoy. The fire pit outside is really different. To sit outside with a... More

So England were busy! We enjoyed one of the best meals in ages. Service excellent and the fresh local produce expertly prepared and hot. It takes time to find a peach but we seem to have discovered one at last! Thanks

This is a popular pub with plenty of character. We had an evening meal for 6 and everyone enjoyed it. Service was good with out the attitude problems mentioned by some previous reviewers. Food was good but expensive.

My wife and I had not visited the Peat Spade for a couple of years and had been put off by poor reviews and one disappointing visit so when i booked for Saturday evening had no great expectations. In the event we were delighted with the experience. We took an old friend who was visiting from Italy and found the... More

We were recommended by a new neighbour, and were not disappointed. The food was Excellent when we visited without pre-booking on a Saturday lunchtime. Service was also good as were the surrounding and whilst busy the staff were accommodating and found us a table
