Five of us went for dinner last Saturday. The first two staff we met were new that day so did not know their way round the menu or drinks. They were extremely polite and charming. Service throughout the evening was very slow but the food was quite delicious. We arrived at 8.00 pm but did not finish till 11.15 pm.... More

We stayed for out wedding anniversary, having been for lunch once before. It's perfectly situated for lots of field sports. The room was really nice & well appointed. We booked for dinner & felt completely relaxed, not rushed, as some places are. The food was lovely & we were amazed at the selection of gins available for a G&T!! Excellent... More

This is the sister inn to our local, the Anchor Inn at Lower Froyle, and they are both run with a formula that works for us. During the summer, we love to drive through the beautiful Test Valley with all their delightful thatched cottage villages. The Peat Spade is where we stop for lunch. Their courtyard garden is a lovely... More

My family and I visited The Peat Spade for Sunday lunch last weekend (9.3.14). We had been looking forward to our visit, however we were left disappointed. We were given one of the tables in the back dining room, and were the first table there. As the other three tables filled up, it was clear they all had children as... More

Visited the peat spade on a Sunday afternoon and had an absolutely delicious roast diner. The braised beef just melted in the mouth. My husband and I both agreed it was the best Sunday roast we had tasted in years, so full of flavours. We had three courses and all three courses were fabulous. Totally recommend the peat spade and... More

the staff were able to explain the menu to us. They also helped us to choose drinks that went with our meals. Food was lovely and portion sizes were generous. Also had a lovely atmosphere

Four of us had a long and exquisitely delicious celebratory lunch at the Peat Spade for my wife's birthday. Pre-lunch drinks included a fantastic array of gin and tonics and delicious beers. We were in no hurry and the attentive friendly service was timed and judged perfectly. Starters were all excellent - my Cornish mussels in a cider and bacon... More

Visited on the spur of the moment and managed to get the last table, excellent range of unusual Gin & Tonic......try the Monkey 47! Food and wine absolutely first class, best meal in a long time. Service was great, new manager was very engaging and knowledgeable.

We came here for a celebratory meal with the family - food was pricey but lovely. The Peat Spade does good traditional gastropub food with seasonal ingredients. Only complaint is the slow service - we weren't in a rush but were there for over 2 1/2 hours!

We had booked a table, upon arrival we were made to feel that we were late and asked to go to the table. The staff then took 15 mins plus to ask if we would like a drink, this was slow these were slow in arriving. We the waited and waited for somebody to take our order. The starter arrived about... More
