Mouthwatering lunch!

Had the set lunch with a couple of friends today. The venison pie we ordered was amazing - the lightest pastry and beautifully tender meat and great flavour. This was washed down by a wonderfully smooth glass of Chilean Cab Sav. The service was good. Great value and great atmosphere.

Attended a four person lunch during the middle of the week, bar service was good, food was very tasty and prompt, staff serving food was a touch curt but overall 8/10 and yes would return.

If you like Yorkshire puddings the size of a toaster then you'll like this place. Very good veg and ok value too. £16 for roast beef, however the portion of meat was disappointing. About the size of a 5oz minute steak. That's the only reason I won't be going back in a hurry.

Had a meal here just before Christmas. I had sirloin and my partner ordered a fish dish (bream) both beautifully cooked and presented. We followed with perfect creme brulee and a chocolate fondant accompanied by pistachio ice cream. Service was first class, lovely ambience, easy parking, pleasant and polite staff - all round a very pleasant experience. Thank you.

We passed a very pleasant night at this inn. It stands in a beautiful village surrounded by thatched cottages on the side of the Test valley. Our room was comfortable and well equipped with a good sized bathroom. The evening meal was interesting, well presented and full of flavour. Breakfast was similarly excellent. All in all a very pleasant stay... More

Had a good Sunday lunch at the Peat Spade after a long walk to Danebury Hill Fort. For Sunday Lunch we all picked the Roast Pork. We again were pretty impressed. The pork was good and well supported by a fair supply of veg. All the staff were very friendly but the initial welcome was pretty slow, in particular taking... More

The food was very well cooked and creatively planned. The price was very reasonable for the quality of cooking and ingredients.I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner.

My husband and I popped in for a drink tonight and were extremely disappointed by the service. The staff were unwelcoming and rude. When ordering wine, a particular rose was recommended because it was 'cheap' which I found condescending. The bar was taken over by a rowdy stag? party and when we tried to find a quiet place to talk... More

In the past we have had some disappointing and inconsistent meals at the Peat Spade since it was taken over by Upham Brewery. A pub chain running a restaurant? Not really the best of ideas. Anyway we decided to give it another go and arrived for Sunday lunch. The service and greeting, this time, was really very professional and due... More
