Fantastic Sunday roasy

My husband and I booked this for Sunday lunch while on a short break in Romsey and I have to say it did not disappoint. Lovely quaint little place serving excellent Sunday roasts with all the trimmings. Can highly recommend.

Underwhelmed with an expensive unpalateable meal. I had the beef burger (approx. £12). It was just warm. The chips were warm and similar to those found in a Big Mac but a small handful. Desert was a chocolate eton mess basically a dollop of chocolate mousse with oreos and a few chocolate pennies. Service was exdellent. Atmosphere good. Overall very... More

I was very excited about going as their sister restaurant (Chesil Rectory) is excellent. Food was minimal (you needed at least 2 courses if not three). Mains were ok at best but veg was not even al dente it was so undercooked. White chocolate and rhubarb cheesecake sounded lovely but rhubarb was raw and it had jelly on top. Not... More

Apart from the bar prices being the most expensive in Romsey, the bar staff need uniforms or 'tidying up' and need to pay more attention to their clients. The pipes should not be cleaned during opening hours. Certain beers seem to have a problem with the way they are 'gassed'.

Excellent food and a good atmosphere helped by the log burning fire. A good range of traditional beers and ciders.

We really enjoyed a lovely family Sunday lunch. Wonderful selection of fresh vegetables, quality meat and friendly but low key service, just how we like it. We enjoyed our mains so much we were tempted with puds, we normally never do this. Will definitely be making a return visit.

I met my friend for lunch here. I've never been and when I pulled up I thought it looked fantastic- traditional pub in very very good condition, well cared for. Welcome was great, menu had plenty of choice, and those choices were interesting, and not over priced. I had the duck fritter, my friend had the scotch egg as starters,... More

We just dropped in on our way to the ferry. The staff were helpful and friendly and we had an excellent meal. It was obviously popular with locals and we were lucky to get a table so close to Christmas. The small car park is round the back of the pub.

A lovely pub with open fires and wonderful food. A little gem. Staff were welcoming and service was great! They do the best roast beef in the New Forest.
