The Folly Wine Bar & Restaurant is one of Petersfield's most iconic and popular places. With its high, wooden timbered vaulted ceiling, leaded windows and congenial atmosphere, you'd be forgiven for thinking our beautiful building was a centuries-old country retreat. Although it could easily embody such a history, it was actually purpose-built in 1916 as Petersfield's local garage. Family-owned and run, The Folly is a stylish, warm and inviting drinking, dining and socialising icon in the heart of Petersfield. Combining the character of a superb heritage building with a delightful menu and wine selection- it is a true hidden gem.

Great find

We ate here with my son the first night and then again on our own the second night lovely food well presented, great friendly staff. The tagine was good but the tapas dishes were superb it's just a pity that the garlic prawns do not come as a main course as we could of eaten a bucketful, highly... read more

Three of us out of the four had fish and chips, we all thought it was very fatty and greasy. Not rushing back. Fish and chips were recommended, so disappointed

Dined here on a Wednesday evening on the recommend by the owner of a local b&b we were staying at. Reasonably choice of different Mediterranean and British dishes, there were three of us and our orders ranged from a north African tagine, a Portuguese fish stew to good old fashioned British cod and chips. All dishes were cooked well and... More

So happy that the Folly is now back being run by the old owners, it now has the fun atmosphere back that we all missed so much, and just feels cleaner and better kept. Fajita night on a Thursday at 2 for 1 is fantastic value and back to the standard we got so used too in the past. A... More

Had a lovely meal at this restaurant. The starters were delicious and cooked perfectly. The portion size large, however for the two hungry men with me just right! The fish and chips with the crushed minted peas were cooked to perfection, and was served hot. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They restaurant was very quiet, so not sure... More

I've been there 3 times since it re-opened and each time the menu has been the same with just a couple of specials - and on the last occasion two of the starters weren't available and only one main course special was on. We went in the evening midweek and it was very quiet. Shan't go again until I see... More

I came here for an acoustic night around a month ago with a family member, and the venue is very lovely. Beautiful decoration and settings. The bar area is great, a wide variety of wines and alcohol and all the staff members were fantastic and especially happy to help. The acoustic musicians were wonderful and it wasn't a bit too... Hi there! Sorry to here that you weren't overly impressed with our restaurant. We at The Folly aim to give every customer the most enjoyable evening that we possibly can. Our menu is currently fairly basic as it is only our beggining menu for when we re opened in Feburary. We have already expanded our menu choices with a new... More

The main menu here is Portuguese-based, and I would definitely recommend the grilled sardines. There's a Fajita night on Thursdays and the meat and sauce were freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. Nice jazz trio added to the ambiance.
