Certificate of Excellence 2014
Cuisines: International
Dining options: Reservations, Late Night
Description: The Folly Wine Bar & Restaurant is one of Petersfield's most iconic and popular places. With its high, wooden timbered vaulted ceiling, leaded windows and congenial atmosphere, you'd be forgiven for thinking our beautiful building was a centuries-old country retreat. Although it could easily embody such a history, it was actually purpose-built in 1916 as Petersfield's local garage. Family-owned and run, The Folly is a stylish, warm and inviting drinking, dining and socialising icon in the heart of Petersfield. Combining the character of a superb heritage building with a delightful menu and wine selection- it is a true hidden gem.

Following on from my wife's birthday dinner treat back in April, it was my Daughter Andrea's birthday on Monday August 11th so I booked a table at Folly's upstairs again. We were not let down. Another fabulous meal, excellent service, excellent food and excellent wines. The restaurant manager who looked after us did a superb job, my deep baked camembert... More

We wanted a special evening as we were celebrating my birthday and that is what we had. Lovely surroundings for a special occasion and the service is always lovely and friendly from Mary (who was chefing on this night) and her waiting staff. A slight disappointment to begin as both of my husband choices were finished but what we then... More

Last night, Mum, Dad and I visited the Folly Wine Bar and Restaurant. We have eaten here before and am happy to say that we have never been disappointed. Last night we started with some bread and olives before out starters; Mum and I shared a beetroot and grilled haloumi salad while Dad watched attempting to steal haloumi... It was... More

Just stopped in for a small bite to eat. Goats cheese salad had plenty of big bits of goat cheese and a good dressing. The berry brulee was excellent. Not sure what the berries were, but it tasted good. The member of staff that dealt with me was friendly and helpful

After having lunch and dinner upstairs at the folly this week I would like to say how good the food is. The service was very friendly, selection of wine probably the best I have seen in years and the menu covers a nice range which is good as I am a fussy eater and accommodating for this was not a... This was our first visit to the Upstairs at the Folly. The restaurant looked very nice, quite exclusive, although quiet empty for a Saturday evening. We were welcomed by staff, who were extremely attentive throughout the night. The food was absolutely delicious, piping hot and very good portion sizes! There was a lovely romantic atmosphere with the lights and space... More

I have been living and working in the area for many years and remember when The Folly was one of the only decent restaurants in the town. Now there are many more to choose from but Upstairs at the Folly remains one of the best - especially if you are in a large group because they seem to handle large... More

From the quality and range of food to the ambiance to the friendliness of the staff, the upstairs Folly never disappoints. I love coming back here time and again, it always feels like home, and although it has changed over the years, it's only ever for the better.
