Fab food but........

Just back from an early meal at the Oatsheaf and the food was really fantastic as usual BUT, was charged over £7.00 for a simple glass of Rose wine at the bar!! Is that price really necessary..... We are regular users of the Oatsheaf but if drink prices continue like that then we'll have to think... read more

We are regular users of the Oatsheaf but if drink prices continue like that then we'll have to think again. Don't be greedy!!

I enjoyed a meal here with the family. Food was mostly very good, though I did pass comment to the waiter that the waffle that accompanied the duck was overcooked to the point of being crispy and, rather than an apology, merely got the unexpected response that I wouldn't have been able to eat it all anyway because it was... We have been to the oatsheaf a few times and always enjoy coming here. The drink selection is varied and the food always looks good (I must admit we have only eaten here once!). Decent atmosphere and nice interior inside, staff are always pleasant too. Worth a visit!

3 of us visited the oatsheaf on Sunday evening with a baby. It was our first visit so were uncertain where to sit. It took several minutes for a member of staff to help us which annoyed us. We found a suitable table away from the entrance. We grabbed a menu and sat for 10 minutes before we asked at... More

We have eaten here twice. Once a Sunday lunch with friends. Couldn't really fault it except paying £4 for a tiny tiny like 3 spoonfuls serving of dauphinoise, which had clearly been hacked off a bigger piece rather than baked in its own dish. It was almost like we thought they were going to apologise that this was the very... More

Lovely bar area, snug and warm in winter but rather ordinary when it comes to dining. A rather limited menu which does not generate much enthusiasm on the part of the diner. We ordered a 'share platter' for our entree and, rather oddy, the entree and our two main dishes were delivered at the same time. We queried this with... More

Went here on Saturday night, we ate out on the Friday also but at the Crab and Anchor for half the price and meal was so much nicer. Food at the Oatsheaf was quite bland with a lack of choice on the menu, customer service could not be faulted though. Steak for the price was not at all great and... More

We had a small family gathering here. The waiting staff were inattentive and the food was pretty average. It started quite well with the starters, but the mains took ages and some were good, others average; the desserts [they brought the wrong one for me] eventually came. The restaurant was cold despite there being a log fire [had to ask... More

My wife and I were treated to lunch here and our first impressions were good: a stylish room, open fire, smart furniture. And the service was fine. But the food was a big disappointment. My wife's lamb roast was tasteless and my my spit-roasted chicken had a slightly unpleasant soapy flavour. The menu is large with more than 20 main... More
