Haven't eaten here for some time as I now live abroad. Came and had a meal with my wife and brothers and had a delicious (nouvelle cuisine) meal. Nice service too.

We were expecting a good experience as two friends had recommended 36 but this exceeded expectations. A dining room full of character but light and bright with windows all round and views of the water. Excellent a la carte choices with some unusual and new to us, food combinations making for intriguing dishes. We could not resist the 7 course... More

We must have eaten at 36 about 10 times over the years. It's a pleasant location with friendly service serving interesting food carefully prepared. So what happened? The location is fine, the service was friendly, but a bit clumsy. But the food has lost the plot in terms of taste while the presentation remains good. The ceviche wasn't ceviche, it... More

Not only was the food adventurous and bursting with flavour but the service was impeccable. We also stayed for a couple of nights and the bed rooms were beautiful.

Head chef Gary Pearce has a great CV. He has worked as sous-chef for David Everitt-Matthias, and frankly credentials don't get better than that. A glance at his Twitter feed shows that this guy is well connected to some of the great names of modern British Cooking. Let's be in no doubt - this guy can cook. So, unless the... More

We stayed at this " restaurant with rooms" the room we stayed in was overlooking the quay, it was small but clean and well equipped with a modern en suite, the continental breakfast was very nice, with a good bread basket, fresh chopped fruit and yoghurt. We enjoyed the meal which was nice but not memorable. Emsworth is a small... More

We have been to 36 On the Quay a few times for special occasions including staying in their rooms twice. This time the visit was for our wedding anniversary and we were not let down. The dinner menu is small but full of variety. My starter of squid was divine! So many different flavours and textures and it set the... More

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years for our wedding anniversary and this time we enjoyed it as much as ever. The canapés that accompanied our glass of champagne were outstanding. We both enjoyed the first course of cannelloni of Guinea Fowl. I then had loin of rabbit with rillette of rabbit leg and my husband had the... More

We were first introduced to The Quay by friends a couple or so years ago and we loved it then. So when we had relatives who had listened to our comments and wanted us to take them there, we jumped at the chance to rekindle our memories of a lovely hidden- away restaurant with superb food. But sadly our return... More
