Fantastic New Years Eve

We have not been to 36 for New Year for quite some time (about 7 years I guess), but this New Years menu was excellent. The menu was the 7 course tasting menu and the food was excellently presented, beautifully cooked and very tasty. The balance of the menu was excellent and at the end we felt... read more

We visited a few days ago for a taster menu of 8 courses, but actually it turned out to be 11! We were greeted by 2 ladies that appeared to be running the whole show; although polite their English was very poor. The experience requires in depth detail being given about each course on how it's cooked and what the... More

36 on the Quay is a bit of an institution in the Chichester area due to its Michelin star. It’s as renowned for its quirky cuisine and horrendously expensive prices as it is for its Michelin accolade, but it was well out of my budget. However, last year saw 36 on the Quay losing that Michelin star (which they’d held... More

The staff as always were very polite and happy to help. Our waitress did lack in knowledge on wines and the ingredients of the menu but she was such a lovely girl. The food itself was nowhere near what we have experienced in the past. Every dish was cold. We left before the end of our menu. Shame because we... More

I went for pre-Christmas lunch on 19th December and had a fabulous time. Food was really beautifully presented and the environment was superb. Service was excellent. If you haven't treated yourself for a little lunch out then don't delay and book yourself in!

The staff were fantastic. Observant, helpful but not intrusive. The wine we had was excellent. The food is not my usual type, as I don't really "do" all that cheffie foams and pretty bits but it was excellent of its type for most of the meals. I had the hake starter and it was lovely, the fish beautifully cooked and... More

From the moment we stepped through the door, the staff could not have been more welcoming. The service was swift but not hurried, highly professional, unobtrusive and very friendly. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We had chosen the three course lunch menu which was very reasonably priced at about £28 per person and there was an extensive wine... More

I have visited this restaurant a few times previously and it has always been exceptional - but not on this occasion. As ever the staff were great, although rather unusually our waitress was not up to normal standard and had very limited knowledge of the food and wine menu, one of the reasons we come back is due to the... What a lovely restaurant .... Can't fault this restaurant ... We had a lovely night with interesting and beautiful food, excellent wine and the staff were all friendly and happy. I go to a lot of restaurants and it was nice to have this quality of food without the stiffness and pretentiousness of other restaurants .... It was comfortable and... More

I have reviewed this excellent restaurant a number of times in the past but today's visit for lunch deserves a further review. What I haven't made clear in the past is that although there is separate lunch and dinner menus on the website you can mix and match from either of those menus and be charged a prorata rate and...
