Now living in Australia, this pub typifies all the best in UK hostelry that I miss, and for which Britain should be proud. Here we have a traditional pub, with fireplace and wooden beams, full of local and plenty of friendly banter, you can bring the dog and no one minds (in fact they will give it scratchings etc..). The... More

We like to eat at the Sussex in the upstairs dining area. We visited recently and, as usual the food was great. We both opted for the Duck confit which was cooked and presented well, but is very rich. I managed to get through three courses on this visit and was absolutely stuffed. Service is great.

I always think the beer & food's good here, and staff friendly, but I feel the portions are a little small for what you pay. As "the sausage pub" there's always a good selection of sausages, but I do think they should come with a little more mash, an some other veg.

Until last week it had been over 15 years since either my wife or I have been to the Sussex Brewery. My wife went there with a group from work for their Christmas lunch and she enjoyed the food so much that the two of us went for a meal yesterday. For me it's always been the case that Sussex... We come here every November for a Sunday lunchtime drinks and a sausage platter for 2 and its always lovely. Pub itself is gorgeous and rustic and cosy, proper log fires burning and the staff were friendly and polite. Food was stunning, sausages were delicious. I must admit though I miss the days when there were about 20 different types... More

From start to finish we had an excellent meal! Our waitress was very helpful and knew the menu inside out. The food was reasonably priced and each course was as delightful and tasty as the other. We will definitely go back and I am looking forward to trying everything on the menu! An excellent choice of sausages all made near... More

This pub specialises in different sausages and they are very tasty and well presented. Have many other good things on offer and the beer is good too!!
