Pleasant pub food and beers.

There is an 'independent' feel about the quality of the food, which is non-formulaic.Despite its location (on the A259) and its rustic feel, the quality of the cooking and dishes on offer, will appeal to middle of the road palates. I enjoyed locally sourced wild boar sausages and mash, which was... read more

My partner's family had arranged to travel over 200miles for a surprise visit, and requested for a table that could accommodate a large party and a small dog. After phoning two other Pub/restaurants (who both accepted dogs, but could not accommodate a large party at short notice), I phoned The Sussex Brewery. I made it very clear that we wanted... More

We were booked in to this restaurant by my son's partner for a family celebration / surprise visit. He phoned the pub days in advance to ask if they could accommodate 6 adults, 3 children, a baby and a small dog. He was told they could not take us in the restaurant as we had a dog but that there... I live in Emsworth and have visited a number of excellent pubs. This was my very first visit to the Sussex Brewery and it was a huge disappointment. We had booked a table for a large group that included my family who had travelled 200miles to see me. We asked whether we could bring a dog and we were told... More

Would have gone back for a third if I hadn't run out of days. Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Oh and the beer is pretty good too.

We visited the Sussex Brewery with a group of friends for their Bastille Day event. The set menu contained enough choice for our group, the Cod Provencale was excellent and the Boeuf Bourguignon was also well-received. The wine was about normal price and there was a great choice of real ale. The evening was finished off with some fireworks. Staff... More

Visited the Sussex for Sunday lunch with the family. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was great and good value for money. All in all a great lunch.

The offering of Bangers and Mash was not bad but not outstanding. The overriding memory of this restaurant was the glacial speed of the service and the very high prices. A pint of lager and a medium glass of red wine at £10.10 is extortionate. I had a starter of devilled kidneys on toast. Took me a while to find... More

Lovely old pub with lots of character, despite what looks like a recent refurb, in a very tasteful, simple style. Arrived fairly late to eat, but luckily the pub was still serving food. I had salt and pepper squid to start with, perfectly cooked in batter, and a good portion. As a main I had fish pie, again delicious, filled... More
