What a surprise!

On arriving at the bar last night, deep joy, Doombar!! Straight from the cask, at room temperature, really splendid. As I have come to find, the food is consistently good, can not resist three courses. My friends also enjoyed it. Well done Simon and your team.

My wife and I have been eating / drinking off and on at the Sussex for twenty years, during which time there have been quite a few changes including the major change from being a Free House to a Young's house. If, like me, you are not a fan of Youngs' don't worry - there are always some Guest beers... More

Apart from a friendly waitress, the other staff we addressed were rude and unwelcoming. There is a relatively small dining area, Limited menu (unless you like sausages) and it appeared over priced. Shame as it is in a beautiful location.

Had a great meal here - our first visit - it certainly won't be our last! Excellent sausage dishes, friendly and attentive service, and nice atmosphere in the upstairs dining room. 10 out of 10!

My partner's family had arranged to travel over 200miles for a surprise visit, and requested for a table that could accommodate a large party and a small dog. After phoning two other Pub/restaurants (who both accepted dogs, but could not accommodate a large party at short notice), I phoned The Sussex Brewery. I made it very clear that we wanted... More

We were booked in to this restaurant by my son's partner for a family celebration / surprise visit. He phoned the pub days in advance to ask if they could accommodate 6 adults, 3 children, a baby and a small dog. He was told they could not take us in the restaurant as we had a dog but that there... I live in Emsworth and have visited a number of excellent pubs. This was my very first visit to the Sussex Brewery and it was a huge disappointment. We had booked a table for a large group that included my family who had travelled 200miles to see me. We asked whether we could bring a dog and we were told... More

There is an 'independent' feel about the quality of the food, which is non-formulaic.Despite its location (on the A259) and its rustic feel, the quality of the cooking and dishes on offer, will appeal to middle of the road palates. I enjoyed locally sourced wild boar sausages and mash, which was very tasty! However,my continuing 'beef' though, is about wine pricing... More

Would have gone back for a third if I hadn't run out of days. Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Oh and the beer is pretty good too.
