Superb Food

Lovely old pub with lots of character, despite what looks like a recent refurb, in a very tasteful, simple style. Arrived fairly late to eat, but luckily the pub was still serving food. I had salt and pepper squid to start with, perfectly cooked in batter, and a good portion. As a main I had... read more

The offering of Bangers and Mash was not bad but not outstanding. The overriding memory of this restaurant was the glacial speed of the service and the very high prices. A pint of lager and a medium glass of red wine at £10.10 is extortionate. I had a starter of devilled kidneys on toast. Took me a while to find... More

Visited with a group of people and generally the service and food was reasonable but rather expensive as the portions were not large. Atmosphere was good and parking adequate. As there are a number of very good pubs in Emsworth this one is not top of the list. I would have given 3.5 but not 4 as a rating.

Visited as a family group some were happy others not, my main problem was the fish and chips ordered. Not the cheapest in the world but perhaps the smallest and most tasteless portion I have had. Very disappointed although others in the group had decent meals. The service was fine.

We visited the Sussex Brewery on a weekday lunchtime whilst passing through Emsworth. Everything about the place was good. The pub itself is simple and unpretentious. The welcome was warm and the service helpful. The beer (Young’s special in this case) was in excellent condition and the food (O’Hagan’s sausages) was delicious. Although there was a large party in the... More

7 of us went for dinner on Saturday night. Parking was difficult and we had to park on the main road in the end. The atmosphere inside was good and our table well positioned and comfortable. Mostly the food was ok - those having sausages or the pork belly seemed happy. The fish and chips option was mean - tiny... More

We bought a voucher from Dealmonster for a Sausage platter at this pub. Easy to find on the A259 at Emsworth with a car park to the rear. We stepped inside to a lovely atmosphere of a proper old pub, stone floors and beams galore. Real Ale lovers will be pleased with a wide selection of craft beers one of... More

Eaten here many times, but this evening was the best yet. Service first class, atmosphere relaxed, food great. We shared a desert (unusual for us to have desert), which we were told was the creation of the new young chef, Sam. Absolutely fabulous!! Well done Sam.

We hadn't visited this restaurant for a long time,so we decided to use a dealmonster voucher for our return. On entering the bar,the place was vibrant, which was a good sign. After ordering our drinks we were shown to our table. The sausage platter was ok and the crumble was microwaved and cold in the middle and the brownie was dry.The service...
