Just an off day perhaps

We stop off here on our way Home from Portsmouth several times a year because we always found it great but not today, my wife had Fish Pie and at £11.00 you are entitled to think it would contain some fish but it was just mostly mash, I had Cod and chips as i usually do, the batter is normally... read more

Yesterday my friend and I had lunch here. I am on a low carb diet but had plenty to choose from. We had prawn cocktail followed by chicken ceasar and fishcakes. My friend pronounced the fishcakes to be the best she'd had. We really enjoyed the meal and our waitress was lovely. Gorgeous surroundings in the restaurant, nice decor and... More

We enjoyed our dinner at the Fishers pond. It's in a lovely location. Food was good we both had steak, which was tasty. We didn't enjoy the Fishermans platter for starters. But overall it was a lovely evening, good service and a nice ambiance.

We visited recently at the weekend, and at short notice, we got a table, thanks to the kind attention of the guy responsible for allocating tables, who was very helpful. The location is lovely, backing directly onto a beautiful lake, where the kids fed the ducks with proper food purchased at the bar. So why only ok? Well, it was... More

The beer was good, but I found it a confusing place, I went to the bar which had a notice saying use the lower bar, but was then told to go back to my table where we would be served. Eventually after some time the first waiter having cleaned adjacent tables but not the one that was covered in food... More

We pop in when we've been to the zoo round the corner. Nice welcoming pub / restaraunt, good beer, lovely sitting over looking the pond. Food is nice, service ok apart from one on the waiters - very odd chap, and quite rude. Everything else was good. We go in quite regularly- once per month.

This pub used to be one of our favourites, but having visited last night we were shocked by the recent refurbishment. What was an old style, homely eating place has been turned into a modern travesty. It really makes me wonder how all that glass and garish colouring was approved by the planners. A cosy, warm country pub has been... More

Called here on way home after long journey and major road delays, with family visiting from overseas. Although originally planned to reach home, and head out locally we were so delayed that we thought we would get of the traffic queue and pass an hour or so having a meal until things got better on the road. What a good... More

If you are coming to have a drink at what was once the best pub in the South of England, then it hardly exists anymore. The pub has been reduced to a very tiny area in the corner of the building in favour of turning the place into a very large restaurant. You will probably find yourself standing up and... More
