An atmospheric place with a good value breakfast.

This is part of the Ellington Lodge Hotel, where you walk a few hundred yards to have breakfast, if you have opted for a B & B package at the 3 star hotel. Good choice to suit all tastes & the "full English" was great. The Moldy Fig has a jazz theme to it in its décor, reflecting the roots... read more

I took my wife here for a birthday meal. I ordered tagliatelle with Mediterranean vegetables. What turned up (with no apology or explanation) was penne. I asked the waiter if this was correct and got confitmation that i was correct (?). I thought oerhaps they had just run out if tagliatelle- but rude not to inform me. Then i started... More

The Moldy Fig is not a run of the mill restaurant, more like a show biz type of bistro. The decor includes an old mangle.....very nostalgic and there are photos around the wall of various acts who have performed over the years at the Concorde Club which it is attached to. The meal we had was superb. Eye fillet for... More

I am sure if you like Jazz then this is an interesting place. Take the Jazz away and you are left with a peculiar restaurant with uninterested staff, unimaginative menu and dated furniture, fixtures and fittings. It is the type of place that, when you walk in, you're not sure if you are actually allowed to be there because it... More

We were welcomed with a cheery smile and friendly greeting before being shown to a selection of tables. We can recommend the tuna cheese melt and the croque Madame and my advice is don't order anything else (except wine of course !) as the portions are huge with crisps and fresh salad accompaniments respectively. However that being said, the mezze... More

I hired the Figg for a special birthday party and was very impressed from the start at how the staff were both helpful with their organisational skills and also very accommodationg for any special requests. The room comfortably sat 70 people and the waitresses worked very hard all evening to ensure that everyone was looked after making this a very... More

Attended a recent Xmas dinner event in the pub area. Seemed to be short of staff . Starter of pate had cold lifeless limp "toast" . Main course of turkey was poorly presented with large "slabs" of turkey laid over the vegetables. Very unappealing. Cheese board was generous but poor quality presentation. All in all the place is in need... More

Went with a party of four on Saturday night and left disappointed. The disappointment started early - all four of us ordered starters, yet only three were brought out. After a few minutes I had to ask where my starter was, the waiter went off to find out, and returned with my starter, saying "I wondered why that one was... More

I was invited by friends to Sunday lunch in a party of 24 people. Although the table bookings were for 1pm, it was 1.30pm, before the staff were ready for our party and 2.10pm, before any food appeared. We had been led through a dark auditorium that smelt of mould and then into the dining room. The pictures were askew.... More
