Visited the Dog and Crook on Saturday evening having driven past many times and after having a recommendation from a friend. Don't judge a book by its cover as we did.....the reason we had never visited before is that it just looks like a locals pub from the outside and would perhaps benefit from a lick of paint on the... Booked table for 8 two hours before arriving - no problem. Very good food, extensive menu, very friendly staff, and landlord quite a character! Very enjoyable.

We visited here for the first time tonight. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and then treated to three courses of very tasty and good value food. The scallops were delicious and the steak and ale pies jammed full of tender meat. We will certainly be back again.

Me and my wife stopped in on a Monday night which we were told was one of their quieter nights which surprised us as they had special offers and fantastic food. A full roast dinner was £5!! Which is great value but I opted for the curry of the day which was delicious. My wife chose the burger which again... More

Returning after several months, I was surprised to see that the Dog and Crook had a generally cheaper menu. Fortunately, quality has not been compromised. Great food, great beer, very friendly atmosphere and a homely, country atmosphere. Do not be deceived by the modest exterior - this is a high-class but unpretentious venue.

We came off the gridlocked motorway with a screaming baby to try to find a way around and stumbled across this hidden gem. In all honesty, from the look of the place from the road, we weren't expecting much. However, very friendly staff and excellent quality, good value food made us very glad we had stopped. The fish and chips... More

We were in the area and needed to find a place for lunch. The Tripadviser reviews looked good so we though we would give the Dog and Crook a visit. This pub is a bit out of the way and does not get much passing trade but it really does deserve to get a lot more customers as the service... More

I went to the Dog & Crook with my partner, and we were treated in a professional yet extremely friendly way, and the service we received was wonderful. They didn't have the gammon steak, so gave me the duck (my second choice) for the price of the gammon, and it was perfectly cooked with a beautiful reduction and accompanying veg.... More

We had a lovely evening meal at the Dog and Crook, the menu choices were really good and the food very good. There are light choices a standard lunch and evening menu and through to more the expensive A la Carte. We enjoyed a nice relaxing meal on a summer evening, well worth a visit. I am sure we will...
