Swift half

Seemed like quite a nice country pub with local ales and tempting pub fare on the food menu. We literally popped in for a quick half on a quiet Monday evening after reading some encouraging TripAdvisor reviews beforehand in the pub car park.

If you are after simple English food then this will suit you. Also the puddings are large so you leave full up. Examples include crumbles and fruit pies with custard. It's also reasonably priced so you won't spend a fortune!

Went for lunch on a busy saturday lunchtime with elderly parents. Owner was very attentive, food was great value for money, beer selection good, will definitely go back.

Very nice country pub food. We ate here on Weds evening, the staff were really pleasant, just the right amount of friendliness without being pushy or bothering you when your trying to have a cosy chat. The food was very enjoyable, well presented and tasty, the wait for food was minimal and the prices realistic and competitive. Overall an enjoyable... More

We went for Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was poor and came with very burnt potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. We complained about the amount of fat on the meat and were told it would be taken off the bill. After checking the bill when we got home only a few pounds had been taken off. The rest of the food... Its nice to find an old fashioned pub that sells traditional pub grub, and not all this gastro cusine, very good value for money. If you don't always fancy posh cusine, but something basic this is the place to go. One touch that I think is good, is that you have coffee with or after your meal you get your... More

We booked for a family Sunday lunch based on reviews. Although the pub doesn't look much from the outside the service and food quality were excellent. There were two boys aged 9 an 10 with us and the children's menu was fine, generous portions and plenty of choice. Most of us went for the Sunday roast and one had the... More

We found this place on the way back from a family day trip to Weymouth and having gone into several other country pubs on route (all told us they we're either fully booked or no food was being served that night) I was dubious if we would get in, not to mention very hungry! Thankfully we got a table -... More

We eat at this pub regularly and the food is always of a good standard. They have recently started doing a Wednesday night Steak Night where you get a choice of beautiful steak dinners / a pudding and a half carafe of wine all for £12.95 (if two people in your party are choosing steak). The steaks are consistently good... More

Went in for a lunch service on a Sunday afternoon and wasn't disappointed. The service was warm, the ambience inside this traditional English pub was quaint and the food was wholesome. They had ran out of a dish we had ordered, but then amended it to our liking. On the whole a very good experience and well worth a visit... More
