We stopped on the way back from Weymouth to London as the traffic was not going anywhere. we are so gladd we stopped, food was brilliant, lovely atmoshpere to sit in the light filled restaraunt or patio. My wife and I had the Fruits de Mer and the Welsh Liver with mash, both were fantastic. We would recommend this to... More

So glad we stopped! From the outside this pub looked very mediocre, so assuming that the food would be of a similar standard we nearly drove on by. But after a quick read of the excellent trip advisor reviews we decided to give it a try:- The food was excellent, very tasty and lots of it. The staff were really... More

We booked a large table at the Dog and Crook for my daughters 18th birthday family meal, and it we all had a fantastic time. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and we were able to drop the cake and some decorations for the table round the day before. When we arrived the table was decorated for us... More

Twice in a row I chose to fine here as the hotel down the road gets a bit boring. Both times the food has made me want to order more (not because I wasn't full, just greedy!) this is good hearty home cooked food with personal service. I asked for a Heineken on the Tuesday and was offered a Heineken... More

On the basis of the glowing Trip Advisor reviews, we decided to try out the Dog & Crook, very local to my elderly mother, but a long way from our Hertfordshire home. We were not disappointed, we had a lovely meal, the midweek roasts are particularly superb value at £4.99, a full plate of delicious food, even big enough for... More

Ate here a couple of weeks ago, family of 4. Starters and mains each plus a dessert to share, and one drink each. The food really was delicious. We had mixtures of surf/turf, roasted chicken, sea-bass and a pie for main and all were fault-less. They came with either boiled potatoes, sautéed potatoes or chips and we tried a bit... More

Visited the Dog and Crook on Saturday evening having driven past many times and after having a recommendation from a friend. Don't judge a book by its cover as we did.....the reason we had never visited before is that it just looks like a locals pub from the outside and would perhaps benefit from a lick of paint on the... Booked table for 8 two hours before arriving - no problem. Very good food, extensive menu, very friendly staff, and landlord quite a character! Very enjoyable.
