We visited the Dog and Crook mainly because the reviews were so good. Let me say that we were not disappointed. We chose steak and ale pie which was most generous in size. The accompanying chips were home cooked and the vegetables...carrots and red cabbage were excellent. The restaurant was busy and the service brisk and polite. Definitely a pub... More

The place has been under new ownership for a few years now, the food keeps on getting better and better. The menu is surprising sophisticated, as is the food. Inside, you are greeted with a pub-style ambience. There is a bar where people who are stopping off briefly have a drink, and there is a separate section for those who... More

I would highly recommend this pub. We go here pretty regularly as we have found it to be the best in the area. The menu is a mixture of quality al carte and big portioned bar meals. All washed down with a great pint of Doom Bar.

Visited on the way to Southampton docks and we don't know this area at all. The reviews had been good and our experience was great. We loved the food and service and the option of a smaller portion suited one of our party. (Not that it was that small, she still couldn't eat it all) It was only 25 minutes... More

10 minutes or so from Southampton Airport: so convenient if you want to avoid the limited range on offer before or after take-off. The pub has a very large number of tables inside and in a conservatory. The traditional pub menu is comprehensive and wide-ranging. Service comes with a smile and they were very accommodating with our table booking when... More

I called in for a drink one evening, with a view to returning for a meal in future. I have eaten here in the past, it was OK, not memorable. The Pub may have changed hands since. The pint was fine, the Pub nearly empty, and it all looked a bit shabby and tired, inside and outside. I don't see how... More

We attended with a group of about 14 including children - and dog!. The weather was good and we occupied the garden, moving necessary tables to form a familiy group. Could have done with more umbrellas to give a bit more shade. Good menu with very good selection of "pub" food, orderd at the bar and served at the table.... More
