Over cooked and lukewarm

Having enjoyed two previous lunches, today's was very disappointing. We ordered jacket potatoes. When they arrived they were black skinned (Overcooked) and lukewarm. The inside was drying up and clearly this was because the potato had been reheated. My prawns were a very small portion. The... read more

Whilst I had been to the Queens Head some years ago and felt the place wasn't worth a second visit, my mother-in-law said that she had been recently and enjoyed the food. As we were passing by I thought as things had improved that I would give the place a second chance. As it was a Tuesday lunch time the... More

Wasn't expecting much in a pub that's clearly targetting young families where convenience may be higher on the agenda than atmosphere and culinary competence. The pub is spacious and light, which I find minimises the atmosphere. However(!), all six meals were of very good quality. With regard to price, we paid £55 for 4 adult meals, 2 children's meals and... More

as previous comments have stated, it's 'hit and miss' with this pub. And not for the first time for us, a 'miss' again! I wonder why we tried it again. It seems that Sunday's are the 'miss' days. Booked a table to ensure we could get in as Easter Sunday. Whilst when we arrived all was well, table changed to... More

After coming out of Marwell Zoo and heading towards Bournemouth for the night, we stopped here for a bite to eat. Our grandson had a lovely adult portion of sausage and mash followed by brownie and ice cream, Both myself and my husband had the gammon with all the trimmings, it was all absolutely delicious.

We went here for a late lunch, attracted by the children's menu. Unfortunately there was no more roast left but the alternatives were good. The only criticism is the inattentiveness of the staff.

Lunch for three adults and three children, and they did us proud - an excellent choice, including a really good children's menu. They were happy to provide a variation on the menu to suit the tastes of an eight year old! Very good and friendly service. Mostly traditional pub grub, but if that's your thing go for it!

Stopped for lunch attracted by the board outside offering a Golden Years 2-course menu for £5.29. I guess you get what you pay for! My husband and I both ordered the tomato soup and while mine was hot his was barely warm. He took it back but had to wait an age for it to be returned hot. The soup... More

Visited this pub for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon while we were on our way to Southampton. The food was lovely and the staff were welcoming. We didn't stay long, but we will be back for a longer visit soon.
