Good stop after zoo

We went here for a late lunch, attracted by the children's menu. Unfortunately there was no more roast left but the alternatives were good. The only criticism is the inattentiveness of the staff.

Lunch for three adults and three children, and they did us proud - an excellent choice, including a really good children's menu. They were happy to provide a variation on the menu to suit the tastes of an eight year old! Very good and friendly service. Mostly traditional pub grub, but if that's your thing go for it!

Stopped for lunch attracted by the board outside offering a Golden Years 2-course menu for £5.29. I guess you get what you pay for! My husband and I both ordered the tomato soup and while mine was hot his was barely warm. He took it back but had to wait an age for it to be returned hot. The soup... More

Visited this pub for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon while we were on our way to Southampton. The food was lovely and the staff were welcoming. We didn't stay long, but we will be back for a longer visit soon.

Called in for Sunday afternoon meal as previous recent visit had been quite pleasant. As per other reviews this location sadly is "hit" and "miss". Today for us it was a "miss" A pleasant greeting and guide to pick a table was good. But they failed to mention run out of roasts (on Sunday) and a few of the other... More

We have passed this pub on many occasions and was glad we went for a meal there at last. The meal was well presented , hot, not to long to wait and fresh and also very reasonably priced. The staff were polite and helpful but not intrusive when eating. We were impressed with the amount of space you have between... More

We went for Christmas dinner with a large group, £50 each for a menu that lacked real Christmas dinner! Dauphinoise potatoes???? Very odd.... Dinner was cold, waited ages for the veg, then the gravy didn't show till we nearly had finished!!! It's a shame the pub has tried to change so much with menus etc as it's now overpriced pub... On the evening of Friday 12th December 18 colleagues and I sat down for our Christmas meal in a spacious room set apart from the main public area of the pub. First impressions were very good, with the table decorated in a happily festive fashion. It became clear at the last moment that one more member of our team would... More

We went for an afternoon lunch and had Hunters Chicken, Bangers and Mash and two cokes each. It was nearly £30. This wouldn't have been a problem if the food had been anything more than pub food at restaurant prices. The chicken was tough, the bacon was burnt and the portion size of the Hunters Chicken was very small with... More

My husband and I decided to go for a late Sunday lunch (3pm) and having passed this pub many times we decided to give it a go as it advertises food all day. We were a little unsure whether to try it as it never seems to have many cars in the car park unlike many pubs in the same... More
