pub food with a difference

We ate in here recently on a saturday night and was pleased with the choice of food on the menu. Not the usual pub staples which was a pleasant surprise. The staff are very helpful and pleasant . It may have been just the evening that we were there but it lacked a bit of atmosphere which is a... read more

Have used this pub frequently for lunches and evening meals and always been impressed by the food and service. Went in their today for lunch and was very disappointed. The soft drinks were vastly overpriced, the lunch menu was very limited and was pretty tasteless. The coffee was only warm. No atmosphere or buzz about the place now although the... More

There has been a change in management style and a new Chef employed. I have visited a couple of times since and have been, sadly, very disappointed. The dinner menu looks good and I instantly loved seeing lobster on there. One of my favourite dishes! It was served tired and dry. My friend's pastry was brown on the surface but... More

Popped in to grab some lunch after a walk in the local area. Atmosphere was dead, service was slow and the food we had was dry and the side of fries were barely warm. Wasps were flying around inside the restaurant so it wasn't a relaxing time either...the staff at the bar said it was either wasps or flies each... More

Was pedalling down the lovely Meon Valley trail and saw this pub from a bridge. Glad I stopped - the red pepper soup was tasty and I was pleased to discover they could supply a gluten free roll to go with it. Had a very nice Wild Mushroom Risotto - so all in all a great place to eat. It... More

We found this place by accident and so glad we did. We will definitely be going back. The food is outstanding and the presentation is lovely. The desserts are out of this world Mmmm. Would definitely recommend

Not impressed. The service was good, but the food had little taste or imagination. I had [supposedly fresh] fish on top of crushes potatoes, basically new potatoes cut in half, in a bowl of cream - we paid £16 for that! Tries to be something it isn't.

Visited today with my young daughter looking forward to trying out the new menu and what a disappointment we were met with. The roasts were inedible twice over! Tough meat, solid potatoes and parsnips. The best bit of the meal was the Yorkshire pudding! The Hurdles once had an excellent reputation for fine dining, my wife and I ate here... More

Great new chef and love the refurbished surroundings. Would have given it a 5 star rating but they have stopped the complimentary breads, oil and butter!! Please bring this back!

Lovely lunch and loved the new lunch menu. I recommend the beef bagel. Also love the Kozel beer which I can't seem to find anywhere. Top place!
