Called in here recently for lunch on a Sunday. The Hunters chicken was somewhat small when served, almost looked like a younger chicken on the plate which was hidden by the cheese & bacon topping. The other main meals were Ok & the fish & chips looked very big & value for money. Dessert including the crumble was very good... More

We decided to use our new Gourmet Diners card on Saturday 2nd August. We booked the table and as we hadn't been to this pub for a few years wasn't sure what to expect. However, it was really enjoyable. Our waitress came to take our drinks order within a few minutes and then our food order. I had the belly... More

This used to be one of my "standby" eating pubs, as it had a reasonably wide food choice, and served Aspall's cider (I'm not a beer drinker!). Their haddock and chips was very good value, and was a tasty favourite. Now the menu has reduced to barely half its previous range, haddock has been replaced by a "fish of the... More

We went for a working lunch, service was quite speedy considering we were quite a large party. We all chose from the lunch and lite bites menu, and our food was hot and well presented.

My husband and I had a lazy afternoon lunch in the garden here recently. The service was fast and friendly, and our food was fresh and hot. The garden is at the junction of a busy road, but you really can't tell as the building mostly shields and noise. The garden furniture is hefty and solid, but I did have... More

After our visit today I left feeling disappointed with the meal we had it didn't look appetising at all and when the pudding came I was amazed at the size of it and after paying £5.45 for the pudding I was upset at wasting half of it they should half the size and reduce the price I also noticed the... Having recently returned from Eastern Europe to the UK, I needed to meet a business associate. The Poplar Farm has been a good venue in the past, so we stopped for a late lunch. The Pork Belly was soft and moist unlike the same dish which can be eaten at other establishments in the same town. This pub is a... More

Four of us ate here in May 2014. Atmosphere is nice with olde worldy beams etc. Service was quite good although we had 3 people serve us. Food was very nice - two of us had the pies, one had cod and the other hunters chicken. All were very good. Do have the gourmet chips which are worth the extra... More

I see that this restaurant has had some less that good reviews in the past - but I gather it's under new management at the time I visited; all that i can say is that it's atmospheric, the food was good as was the service. Lovely place in an attractive country setting; ample parking; appealing old thatched building; beamed interior... More

Went to have a meeting with supper, 4 working ladies. Not at all happy with food and overpriced for what we got. If i can remember I and another friend had a goats cheese salad. My 10 yr old grandaughter could have presented it better. The others meals were not up to standard either so will not be returning. I... More
