Took a while to find out in the countryside very nice setting Olde English pub busy but so very very quiet I think it more a locals pub, Sorry to say no atmosphere, food was only average wouldn't bother with the fish, but hubby had the duck and he said it was very nice, so perhaps I was just unlucky... the pub itself is average. I've only eaten there once but it was decent at average cost. The outside area is very nice and it's right at the entrace to a nice walk down the Severn river. If you feel like a walk, this is a good place to finish off for a drink in the sun.

The Anchor is a country pub with a restaurant built on, you can eat in the restaurant or the bar. It is not a gastro pub or one of the lookalike chains. In the summer there is a large garden. The menu ranges from bar snacks through a set meal to a full menu. It has the added advantage that... More

We eat at the Anchor on a fairly regular basis and in the main the good is good. I would not recommend the scallops, cut in half and then over cooked so they'd bounce if you dropped them. Our last meal here last week was distinctly average considering the food we've eaten here in the past. I'm hoping it was... More

We visited the Anchor Inn on Easter Sunday for a family lunch. The dining room was not terribly well laid out, I think this may be due to the number of people they had booked in, and it was a squeeze to get passed another table to get to our own. There were 5 of us in total and I... More

The Anchor Inn consistently provides really good food at a reasonable price. We thoroughly enjoyed our starters including terrine, crayfish mayonaise and scallops. They were all nicely presented but the scallop dish was overpriced as it consisted of one scallop sliced in two! The main courses of steak ,medallions of fillet steak and ducks were beautifully cooked. The wines were good... More

We originally booked to have a reunion lunch at a place a few miles away from this but discovered from Facebook reviews that it had dropped from 41/2 star rating of a few years ago to 1 star today. With people traveling a long way this was not acceptable and a quick trawl of local places prompted us to book... More

We arrived at the Anchor Inn on Sunday afternoon after a walk in the area, damp and a little bedraggled. We had no expectations, just some pub food and a warm room. We were not disappointed. The menu was quite extensive and interesting. Not just the usual pub food, and not just the Sunday roast. Sometimes an over ambitious menu... More

This superb Pub continues to offer an excellent range of fabulous dishes together with an equally good selection of wines and beers at realistic prices, The new dishes recently introduced to the menu of Homemade Faggots and the Seafood Pancakes are both extremely tasty. For dessert the unique Oldbury Pear Tart is an absolute delight. Always a pleasure to visit.
