For the first time in my life I wanted to photograph my food

Can't recommend the restaurant highly enough. Food was inventive, freshly prepared, wonderfully flavoured and fabulously presented. Can't wait to go back. Great wine list too.

Quiet peaceful pleasant environment. Nice afternoon tea. Quite expensive in comparison to other local places of similar quality but we had a pleasant afternoon tea and would return.

The food was fabulous. We ate twice in the restaurant and the food was wonderful. I particularly loved the puddings with desert wine suggestions. Service was relaxed and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We even managed to squeeze in afternoon tea - which quite frankly is a must !!

We stayed here for a night and adored the place! Fabulous room with massive en suite, lovely reception area with open fire and the restaurant with inspired short menu. Staff were outstanding, we loved our stay. Highly recommended!

First of all it has to be said that this Hotel/restaurant is totally beautiful and run by pleasant helpful staff. My husband decided to have lunch there, having previously checked what their lunch menu was like on the computer. When we were seated we were disappointed to find only a 'selection' of the dishes actually there, most of the lunch... More

We booked late, but managed to secure a table in the main restaurant. The décor is chic but homely & inviting and we were shown to some comfy chairs for pre dinner drinks. The waitress wasn't 100% sure about the contents of the dishes, she did her best, but clearly was not that well informed. All dishes were really tasty,... More

We had chosen this restaurant to have dinner with 2 other couples on the basis of previous reviews both online and from people we know that had eaten there, so expectations were high and we were looking forward to a good night. On appearance the restaurant looks great, well appointed furnishings and décor, so we were all very disappointed to... More

We have been here several times over the years - whenever we visit Forest of Dean. We love the separate bar area for initial drinks and looking at the menu which they serve with a snack tray. They get that balance right between making you feel special and at the same time relaxed and homely. Food is great, there's fresh,... More

Arrived as last minute booking on a Sunday. Very welcoming as we had three young children in our party. Children's menu and main menu was very good. Food well presented and tasty if on the expensive side. Desserts were very good. Only downside was that it seemed to take a long time for food to arrive. This usually means high... More

My family brought me here for my birthday lunch treat, the welcome from the receptionist was warm & friendly, the waiting staff were very attentive. There menu all sounded so scrummy, we all had the pork for our mains. It was totally delicious, even my two fussy teenagers cleared their plates, the deserts were just as amazing. My husband has...
