A very warm welcome to the Butchers Arms. One of the oldest pubs in the Forest of Dean, we have been welcoming locals and visitors alike since 1802. Our menu combines signature 'Butchers' dishes with traditional British favourites, our modern recipes and grills are all prepared by Head Chef Matt Wheeler and his team from the freshest ingredients. Wherever possible we will endeavour to provide produce from local suppliers so you can truly have a taste of the Forest of Dean. We pride ourselves in providing good quality food, excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere. All our food is cooked fresh to order, so please allow a little time for service. We look forward to seeing you. Matt and Scott Directors

very nice find , courteous service and dog friendly

Visited on Easter Monday for an evening meal whilst on holiday in the area. Had enquired two days previous if we could book, and take the dog (the latter ok but we would have to be in the bar area). Very nice place indeed, and the bar area dining was nice and cosy. Friendly helpful staff and... read more

We booked for dinner on our last night having enjoyed drinks in the bar during the week, the bar staff being very helpful and friendly. Despite arriving on time, we were still waiting for our food an hour and a half later. It was 8.30 by this time and we were not prepared to wait any longer. A beautiful pub... More

Lovely little pub in the centre of the village. The food was really good. Had a dog friendly area in the bar and had a range of good ales.

We went to the Butchers Arms for a nice Easter Monday evening meal. After looking at the website, we were expecting to pay £16.95 for three courses, as they say online, however this was not the case. We arrived a little early and our table was ready, however after more than 15 minutes we had not been given a menu... More

We stopped off at The Butchers Arms yesterday for an early dinner after our visit to Perrygrove Railway. It's a lovely old pub with lots of character. The staff made us feel very welcome. They very quickly found us a table, organised a high chair and brought us drinks. There was a very nice selection of food available. My Husband... More

We were staying in the hotel next door but preferred the pub menu. Don't make our rookie error and assume just because a place is relatively isolated it will not be busy! We decided to eat early and arrived before 6.30pm only to discover that the earliest table was 8.30pm due to a large party arriving imminently. Rather than slope... More

Loved the pub, very cosy with beams, fairy lights & open fires. I had the Giant steak pie & couldn't finish it, the burgers looked to die for & my partner had the Sea bass. Lovely pub, make sure you book, it gets busy.

A homely country pub with a great menu with plenty of choice. Good service from the friendly staff which was not rushed yet still very timely. Portions are generous and good value for money. The burgers are always reliable and the steaks tasty and well cooked. Save room for some pudding though as they are worth it too!

We visited following a recommendation from friends. It lived up to its reputation - friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, good menu. My wife and I are vegetarians and were well catered for. The omelette and goats cheese quiche dishes were excellent and freshly prepared. The only picky comment is that there was too much dressing on the salads for our taste.... More
