A really lovely old pub, a genuinely warm welcome and great food!

We stopped off at The Butchers Arms yesterday for an early dinner after our visit to Perrygrove Railway. It's a lovely old pub with lots of character. The staff made us feel very welcome. We were staying in the hotel next door but preferred the pub menu. Don't make our rookie error and assume just because a place is relatively isolated it will not be busy! We decided to eat early and arrived before 6.30pm only to discover that the earliest table was 8.30pm due to a large party arriving imminently. Rather than slope... More

Loved the pub, very cosy with beams, fairy lights & open fires. I had the Giant steak pie & couldn't finish it, the burgers looked to die for & my partner had the Sea bass. Lovely pub, make sure you book, it gets busy.

A homely country pub with a great menu with plenty of choice. Good service from the friendly staff which was not rushed yet still very timely. Portions are generous and good value for money. The burgers are always reliable and the steaks tasty and well cooked. Save room for some pudding though as they are worth it too!

We visited following a recommendation from friends. It lived up to its reputation - friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, good menu. My wife and I are vegetarians and were well catered for. The omelette and goats cheese quiche dishes were excellent and freshly prepared. The only picky comment is that there was too much dressing on the salads for our taste.... More

The food is really good, but the service was mediocre. This pub has a great selection of single malts and really lovely toilets. The dining room is cosy.

We had an excellent dinner at this old pub. We both had Tbone steaks with thrice cooked chips. It was good old fashioned English pub food. Hearty portions and well cooked. The ambience of the place was enhanced by the log fire, low beamed ceilings and cosy atmosphere. With locals drinking at the bar it felt like the good old... More

Very welcoming, all the staff were very friendly. We did not eat just had a few drinks but all the food that was served look very inviting and very good portions. Our friends had Sunday lunch and were very impressed

After a fantastic meal last week, I noticed they did B&B. Yesterday I called and they had spare rooms so I booked them.I had the burger and chips. Omg! It was massive and tasted fabulous. The locals in this lovely village made us very welcome and the local Ales were very nice. The rooms were a little small but spotlessly... More

Quality country pub. Separate restaurant area. Varied menu and hearty portions. Can happily recommend the steak pie and the Sunday roast
