We were staying in Blockley and went down to the Great Western Arms for dinner. We were with some friends and had our infant son asleep in the pram, and our Border Terrier dog. The Publican/Chef was fantastically helpful and very accommodating. The pub had a warmth and genuine quality to it, and was filled with locals having a Saturday... More

Good honest pub food with excellent beer. Very friendly good service. So much more acceptable than eating a second night at the Crown. Nice fire to sit around should winter come on suddenly!

We've been a few times on visits to Blockley and they never fail to make strangers feel very welcome - well kept beer and a nicely refurbished feel to the place - well worth stopping off if you're passing - the food looked good too and was getting rave reviews but we didn't actually dine.

Popped in for a pie and a pint; Hook Norton pub so Hooky and Old Hooky order of the day, kept fairly well, chap behind the bar pleasant. We were in the pub area, quite small with a pool table and TV quite prominent. As the locals came in we didn't feel especially welcome. When our food was ready we... More

We stayed at the Crown, and of course didn't want to eat there, so our only option was the Great Western Arms. Nice little dining room at the other side of the pub bar, of which we were glad because the pub side seemed a bit more rougher around the edges with screaming kids in nappies on the pool table.... Although quite small and only a few tables we were made welcome and only had to wait 5 mins or so and a table was found for us. Limited menu but good food and excellent service.

Visited the Great Western while staying at the Crown Hotel in Blockley with my wife. We both had an excellent meal with very friendly service, The pub has a good atmosphere and the food is well prepared and offers good value for money. The beer isn't bad either! Would highly recommend a visit.

Another great visit there was nothing on the lunch menus my 13 year old fancied but this was not a problem as the landlady asked her what sort of thing she would like and came up with just what she wanted fantastic. Have been going to the pub for the last 13 years and since Gail the landlady took it... More
