Visited this specialist fish restaurant situated on the banks of the River Severn. Although a bit 'out-of-the-way' it is worth the drive. On arrival you can see the site of the old ford across the Severn from which the restaurant takes its name. On the other side is the picturesque Forest of Dean and the town of Newnham on Severn.... The standard of food is less than it should be for the prices being charged, the waitress was most pleasant. Have visited many times, the previous owners served fantastic quality food but over the last few years the food has become less and less good, not surprised only one other table of 2 people on a midweek summer evening. Don't... More

Booked for a birthday celebration, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and they did very well for our large booking. We didn't have to wait long for our courses to come out and they kept us well topped up with drinks. The setting is beautiful, even when raining I should imagine. Really was amazing food and presentation was superb. Quite... More

One bottled beer and a diet coke cost my wife and I over £9.00 - talk about overpriced. Will never set foot in this place again!

Friendly staff, exceptional views and amazing food although VERY expensive. I go here for a treat and I enjoy it hugely every time. It's proper gourmet restaurant fish food. Go here for the experience, not to fill your stomache, or you'll be emptying your wallet! I don't care though... it's amazing and the best and most interesting food in the... More

I was lucky enough to enjoy the taster menu with a voucher, as I'd never been able to afford it otherwise.. That being said, it remains one of my most memorable and delicious meals ever, so I would definitely return for that special occasion. Of all the courses, the bisque cappuccino was so amazingly gorgeous I could've drank a bucketful!... More

The perfect setting for a birthday meal, the food and service were incredible, I have eaten at Nathan outlaws resturant in rock and this is up there with that, the food was just cooked to perfection and the textures of chocolate was out of this world, thankyou for making my birthday so perfect!!

We arrived with a voucher but they were not giving anything away - it was not worth the full price. Polish waitress delightful and should be trained for front of house. Fish fresh and well presented.

A barely acceptable meal at an exhorbitant price. The bisque soup was saltier than the dead sea and although management agreed and removed it from the menu it should never have reached the table. Mussels in pernod and saffron cream were excellent, but the cornish crab salad was so adulterated by dressing that the crab was barely in evidence. Seared... More

Stopped in on impulse for lunch on a sunny Sunday, which suited the airy location. They were easily able to accommodate us, which, given the high quality of the food and service we've experienced in the past, and the pleasant location, was surprising. The surprise faded once the menu was presented. At £27 for a main of John Dory with... More
