We have been visiting O Picado for years. It is easily in the top two of my favourite places to eat in the Westcliff / Southend area. We popped back to celebrate 10 years of this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon for a "Madeiran Cultural Day". Staff were dressed in local costume. Fatima - the owner and incredible Head Chef... More

My wife and I were trying to think of a good local restaurant to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. Somewhere with a distinctive character and a relaxing atmosphere. O Picado delivered. The road facing frontage hides a wonderful secret. We booked to be sat outside and were led out into a covered alleyway, decorated with grape wines and intimate lighting.... More

Excellent as usual, informal and relaxed with a varied menu. Being a Madieran restuarant, the fish dishes were plentiful and delicious. We will definitely be back again

Whilst technically ours was a 'family' visit - I must clarify that it was an adult family group. We went to the restaurant as a group of six, never having been there before. First impression from the outside was that it might be a bit small, but that impression was quickly dispelled who we weighed in and found that it... More

A hidden retreat gem of a place. Friendly, family owned and run. Excellent value lunchtime menu, with fresh tasty ingredients. Relaxed informal atmosphere, in the back garden dining area, where you actually feel as though you are on holiday. Very helpful, unhurried service, and you feel as though you are in a family kitchen. Nothing is too much trouble, and... More

We went to this original little restaurant for dinner where they do small portions of nearly every dish which is handy for little ones though a bit too spicy for my friend's daughter's palette. Very hard working and friendly solo waitress seeming to being doing all the work for a busy restaurant. Soup was lovely but warm rather than hot... More
