Great restaurant

We came here last Sunday evening for mum's birthday. Being a sunday evening it was only us in the restaurant. We booked the teppanyaki. The staff made us feel welcome and the banter from our chef was great. I think we could of all passed on the salad and soup, but the main was brilliant. So much... read more

I was disappointed to read the negative reviews of this restaurant. All the previous reviews (word of mouth) that I'd had were overwhelmingly positive, and so I had a fairly good view of the place before I visited. We went for my son's 16th birthday. He's a fan of all things Japanese and so requested this place for the family... More

Be warned!! This restaurant is extremely over priced and a 10% service is compulsory regardless of your party size. The staff are rude and unfriendly. The food is hit and miss...the chicken was great, the rice was dry and overcooked and the steak was smothered in teriyake sauce. Would not recommend and will definitely not visit this restaurant again. Very... More

Hello, The 10% service charge is stated on all our menus and we believe this to be a standard across many restaurants. Some even charge 12.5% - 15%. I am surprised to hear that you find our staff rude and unfriendly. Our service is one of the things that people talk highly about, even if the food is not to... More

We visited Fuijiyama for my sister in law's birthday on Saturday night, she is a huge fan of Japanese food so we opted for the Teppanyaki option. I have been to a Japanese restaurant in London previously and found the chef to be very entertaining, making the experience fun and enjoyable. Unfortunately, my experience at Fujiyama was neither fun or... More

Hello, Everybody is entitled to their own views but there are a few points we would like to clarify from our end. I am sorry that you did not find your experience fun or enjoyable. We have 2 sessions at the TeppanYaki at weekends. The first starts at 7PM and we encourage customers to get here on time as the... More

Dear Kylie S, Firstly, I'd like to thank you for your review. I am glad that you had a great experience at our restaurant, especially as it was to celebrate your mum's birthday! Our staff always try and make customers feel welcome as it is a family run business and this is something very important to us. The fillet steak... More

I managed to (finally!) persuade ze man to try some Japanese food and we were recommended FujiYama by his family. We had a large selection of food but I can point to some highlights: 1. Sushi is freshly prepared as you order it. I was told there would be a 20 minute wait and it was well worth it. Fresh,... More

Recently visited Fujiyama with my wife & was left very underwhelmed! The young waitress who greeted us was very friendly & engaging. The green tea & Saki was very nice & the seafood & vegetable tempura for a stater was one of the best we have had. The creamy scallop in a shell was very disappointing. A tiny scallop that... More

Hello, Firstly, I am glad that you found our staff friendly. Also, I am pleased that you enjoyed our drinks and tempura. The scallop starter is served as one piece in the shell with a cream sauce containing tobiko (flying fish roe directly imported from Japan). Taking this into consideration, we believe the price is fair. I need to clarify... More

We booked into Fujiyama for a meal on new years eve (quiet one this year, just a meal and then home). It was very quiet. The quality of the sushi was excellent. The owner even came over to us and explained the cuts of the fish he was giving us and why they tasted different from different parts of the... More

I visited Fujiyama with friends for a birthday celebration. Never having visited a restaurant with tappenyaki before, the waitress was very helpful explaining what the choices were. The food was cooked by an experienced and talented chef on the hot plate right in front of us! The salad and soup to start and the fruit for desert were all good,... More

Having had Tapanyaki before I was excited to find a restaurant close by that offered this dining experience. On arrival we were sat very quickly and the waitress explained the set menu. No other menu was offered so basically had a choice of 4 set meals starting at £30. However we decided to order and share two different selections one... More
