I took a friend to Southend on Saturday. Her & her partner were staying with us for the weekend. The boys had gone golfing & I thought I'd introduce her to the thrills of Southend on Sea. We thought we'd probably just grab a bag of chips for lunch & were very surprised to find somewhere like Sands. We had... More

Tea for Two is always good and good value! No table service in the decking area and the queuing can be quite time consuming. For cost of the main menu, table service should be available. Staff friendly enough, on one occasion we were asked 9 times if everything was ok? I think they were either bored or having a laugh.Would... More

My husband and i went on Saturday evening as a birthday surprise for me. First impressions were good. A lovely table by the window with a great view of the sun going down. A pianist was playing and the atmosphere was really nice. Unfortunately it went down hill very quickly. Our starter arrived, we were sugaring baked Camembert, it was... More

This restaurant is hit or miss and today unfortunately was a big fat miss.. ,!! I think every body would agree £13.95 for a Sunday roast is pretty top end ,the problem wasn't the food it was the lack of service and the time it took to get your food , starter £7.50 tasty well presented , the problem for... Awful. Lack of filling in sandwich , one sandwich had no ham. Pretty bad considering it was meant to be a ham sandwich. The table was sticky. We were told the management are aware it's a varnish problem but have done nothing about it. Asked for the bill 3 times and didn't get it for 35 mins . Nobody came... More

The experience at this bistro was sadly a disappointment as the food was okay but the service was lacklustre. Plenty of staff hanging around but our food kept getting forgotten. We had a lovely starter of baked cheese with bread. We ran out of bread and ordered more but that took a while to come. Then onto the mains where... More

My friend bought me a voucher for afternoon tea, it was lovely, nicely made, great view good modern place , the downside was there was one teabag in a massive pot of tea for 2, secondly there were 4 tables of people enjoying their afternoon tea but in the midst was a table of 8 ! 6 of which were... Twenty of us arrived for a birthday celebration afternoon tea. Although we did not have a window table there was still a good view of the sparkling Southend sea. Our waitress took our order with military precision making sure she had everyone's cake choice. Afternoon tea was very good value, sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and jam and a... More

We visited on Saturday 16 August for an early dinner, food took approx 30 minutes to come out and it was not very nice, the chips were cold the fish bland. I just don't think they can cope when they are busy. Won't be going again.
