Staff were very good and served us quickly, this is a pub with a good reputation and definitely shows that when you arrive its traditional but packed to the hilt. Lovely food and good range of ales on pump. Brilliant night all round.

We booked for an early sitting on a Sunday lunchtime with an idea that we would be able to be served relatively quickly. Unfortunately that wasn't to be the case and even with us just ordering main courses, it was over 45 minutes until the food arrived. This appeared to be the case for everyone else too. Once it arrived,... More

We had dinner here with friends, and enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. On a warm summer's evening, the pub was not crowded as many people were sitting outside. The pub has been renovated to reflect an older era, and the overall effect is a quaint English country pub - low ceilings, appealing nooks, interesting features. The food was good... More

Was the only pub in a very barren upmarket area, car park full of expensive cars and posing place for the glitterati. Allowed them tio get away with charging high prices for the beer, but another 2 pubs opened nearby. Food in the restaurant is good and although not cheap is fairly priced

Visited for the real ale festival. Not impressed with the beers, tried three different sorts and all tasted flat and poorly kept. Food is so-so, tastes like it's all microwaved, but nothing to complain about. My main gripe is trying to get served at the bar. Seems to take ages and not helped by regulars sitting there and not moving... More

Always nice going to The Angel especially so during one of the Beer Festivals. The food is generally of a good standard, however for those who go on a fairly regular basis the lunch menu is getting a bit boring. Prices are about normal over the bar for a non chain pub and lunch menu also ok, but I do... More

We decided to go to the Angel for my birthday as it had come highly recommended by friends and we were not disappointed. The restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere and our waitress was attentive, helpful and polite as were the bar staff. We ordered.the sirloin steak which was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the homemade chips were crispy on... More

After my previously disappointing visit to The Angel Inn, I did not think I would return but was invited there for a Sunday evening glass of wine and a snack. I believe that every establishment deserves a second chance. The place was fairly busy and remained so throughout the evening. I was told that the restaurant area was closed on... More

As a first for dining out I was told to lodge a payment card to be held at the counter!!! in case of what? we were hardly all going to run without payment!! we had been told that the restaurant was fully bookked so... Thought we would give the Angel a try at lunch time and wished we hadn't bothered. The plate on which the jacket potato was served was hotter than the beans in the potato and the sauté potatoes with the steak and ale pie were so over cooked they were burnt!! There was also something on the plate that was so... More
