Ok, nothing special, staff could do with customer training

Food ok, nothing special, steak & ale pie was mainly mushroom and puff pastry, very limited desert menu. Staff obviously anxious to close up and get off as they were taking our glasses as soon as we finished, no question about coffees or another drink. Priced as a mid-range restaurant, food and... read more

Disappointing food lacked basic taste I agree with other review the chef needs to taste the food before sending this has been the case on now a few occasions so unfortunately won't be going back

We had lunch here, had the burger with mozzarella cheese and it was evident the chef does not taste the food they cook, it was badly seasoned and just not nice. The staff are wonderful and welcoming and the pub has a lovely atmosphere and the beers are nice too, they just need to sort out the food, and maybe... More

I've eaten here a few times in the past and always thought it excellent but a recent visit was very disappointing. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty the service was slow and forgetful, lacking in attention. The main courses were nice enough but distinctly average, not good enough to encourage me to go back. The dessert options were disappointing -... More

Nothing to really complain about, but nothing to write home about either. I had a business meeting over Sunday lunch, so thought a traditional pub Sunday lunch would be ideal. The pub itself is a great local with decent beer and bar snacks etc. And the restaurant, for the last few years has always been well above average. But I... More

We have been going here with family and friends for many years and eating in both the restaurant and the bar. Recently eating in the restaurant with friends one Saturday evening the food when it eventually arrived after a long wait was a great disappointment. My meat pie was mostly tough meat with chewy mushrooms and an cooked pastry lid.... More

I have been visiting The Angel for as long as I can remember because my Nan lives around the corner and it's one of her favourites. The last couple of times I've been I've had the same meal, because it's just so tasty! Today we all had a lamb and cumin burger, and we had a crab cocktail and chicken... More

This was my first visit to this inn and I found it utterly charming. The whole place is really cosy and there is a great inglenook fireplace in the restaurant. The food was good; I had pork belly. Others had pie, beef Wellington and fish. The staff were polite and cheerful. They could possibly have been a little more attentive... More

My uncle is a regular at the Angel and he decided to treat the rest of the family to dinner yesterday. The service and roasts were awful. My mother ordered an orange juice which turned up in a dirty glass and had to be replaced. We had to wait a long time for our main courses to turn up... when... More
