Cake to die for!

Taken by my friend Irene Brankin to experience the quirkylicious Bacchus in all its glory, I loved it. We went for a cup of tea (served in bone china) in the afternoon and I ordered ginger and orange blossom cake. The portion was huge and beyond delicious. A fantastic eclectic restaurant. The decor and atmosphere is top. I've been going here since it opened and it never fails. We had king prawn & scallops ( scallops cooked to perfection a rare treat) and the onion tarlets for starters just lovely followed by a perfectly cooked steak and home made chicked kiev just perfection on a plate. Can't... More

We booked for a family birthday for 5 people. Restaurant is very quirky, perhaps not to everyone's taste but we loved it! Food was amazing, it is rare that I write a restaurant review but as we were all so positive I needed to share our experience. Rump steak with peppercorn sauce was delicious, one of the best steaks I... More

Booked here for afternoon tea with my husband for our anniversary and was not disappointed, very friendly and polite waiting staff and love quirky decor inside, different from anywhere else in town, best afternoon tea around Southend I think and tried all the others like Roslin, sands, cliffs(nothing wrong with these just thought here was better) scones defiantly the best... I've frequented Bacchus now for almost a year and, as well as the service and décor being top-notch, the Eggs Benedict is the best I have EVER had (and I've eaten all over the world). Not only is the portion sizeable (too big for me to finish but my fellow diner can polish it off for me), but the eggs... More

A quirky restaurant in the centre of Southend. Very friendly staff. Great menu, which is very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend whether it's for couples, family or friends.

I love the inside of this restaurant and on the phone the staff were really friendly so we booked for 4 for Sunday lunch but sadly the restaurant was very poor. It was not overly busy and aside from us it seemed most people were having afternoon tea - maybe that should have given us a clue. The service was... More

Had an enjoyable lunch at this restaurant with a large group. We had pre-ordered our meal. We met at 12 for a 12.30 lunch but my food was not served until 12.50 pm. I feel I made a good choice with my menu which was ham hock terrine, fish and chips and eton mess. However my 3 friends were not... More

its the best place in southend in my opinion, get for a coffee, brekkie lunch or dinner. the 'alice in wonderland' feel dinning room is a welcome escape from the bustle outside, its full of character and yet chic, the staff are great and even recognise me as a regular (im a lil addicted). food is beautiful, the portions are...
