We went for Sunday lunch and enjoyed the experience and food. The decor is unique and classic, like stepping back in time. Great use of furniture, accessories; classic.A lot of attention to detail: sugar cubes in decorative pots, salt in old fashioned miniature bowls and the cutlery was noticeably solid, heavy and of good quality. Nice to not eat a meal... More

I booked this a couple of weeks ago and informed them of my daughters nut allergy and that we would not like smoked salmon sandwiches, I was told this would not be a problem. We arrived at the beautiful quirky little restaurant and was shown to our table. There is a lovely atmosphere and it is full of charm. The... More

We arrived late on a Sunday - it had obviously been a busy day and they had run out of lots of things on the menu. The staff tried hard and the service was great, but I would have preferred if they had just sent us somewhere else as we struggled to find anything we wanted to eat.

Visited this restaurant at the weekend, was very beautiful with a really lovely atmosphere. The staff were all super, friendly, attentive and the food menu and wine choice was delightful. There were side plates for bread, we weren't offered any though which was surprise and sadly we had to wait an enormous amount of time for our main courses as... More

On a bitter cold day as a birthday treat had afternoon tea. All the food was lovely. The proprietors couldn't do enough to ensure we had nice time. Would recommend. If I had one criticism it would be I would have liked a big choice of teas as you get in London establishments but since the price is a third... More

I have been to this restaurant four or five times now. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is as good as Ive had anywhere in Essex and the decor is truly impressive. This eclectic restaurant offers an atmosphere a little different than the norm, the cocktails are brilliant. If you don't want a full meal you can go... More

We had our office Christmas Party at Bacchus and they were very attentive and helpful both in the organisation beforehand, and on the actual day. The tables were laid out well, the food arrived promptly and was very delicious. There was a good selection on their Christmas meal menu, much better than some of the other restaurants we had looked... More

We love the private dining room downstairs, possibly the fifth or sixth visit, however this time the staff seemed a bit stretched and unorganised on arrival. The food was tasty but the portions were ridiculously small including the separate dishes of veg which should easily have been doubled, shame.

We held my friend's surprise Birthday afternoon tea here in the downstairs area. The food was outstanding, the surroundings amazing and the staff could not have been more helpful. From the moment I booked it the staff helped with the small details like noting down the details I had told my friend so the surprise wasn't spoilt when we got... More

Very suprised by this hidden gem of a restaurant! Walking outside you would simply think it was a vintage shop but thanks to tripadvisor we booked my sisters 30th Birthday lunch here and were truelly suprised by the great imagination and features of Bacchus! The staff were very friendly and accommodating as I arrived slightly earlier to decorate the table.... More
