We sat outside on the terrace with our dog, for lunch when we first got there they were quiet but with half an hour they were full. The sun was out and we had a nice view of the water. It was Friday so they have a dedicated fish menu. Food, service was good and generous portions. It is not... More

This is the #1 hotel in Thorpe Bay.... but there are only two! Therein lies the problem ("In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king"). We had read many reviews which essentially described the hotel as a Haute cuisine establishment. The question posed by Trip Advisor was : "Is this one of the best meals you've ever had in a restaurant", & the answer is "No!" - That's not intended as a criticism, it's just that the question is too far reaching to say "Yes" - Too many elements have to come together to say "Yes", & having Sunday Lunch... We had a set lunch here to bring an end to a few days of celebrating our parent's 60th Wedding Anniversary. We had a short wait for our table so we enjoyed a drink at the bar. The menu should have something for everybody and the food was of a very good standard with good portions. It was also nice... More

Took two friends (one who is terminally ill) to The Roslin for a nice coffee, cake and general cheer up chat. After waiting about 15mins (there were only 2 other people on the terrace) and the waitress knew we were there-my friend got up and asked her what they did to have with coffee-she said breakfast was finished (fair enough... A range of appetising food suitable for all budgets which can be eaten at the bar or restaurant overlooking the sea. Nothing to dislike... 'Home made' soups, fabulous fresh fish, steaks to melt in your mouth and my mother's favourite Suzette Pancakes. Highly rexommend...

I have been a quest at two functions at this hotel and was impressed at the location and service. I took my family to the Roslin for lunch on Monday 25th August and cannot fault the food, service and price for such a great time. I would hearty recommend this hotel- it is a jewel in the Southend crown. Visit... More

My friends and I have just had sunday lunch in the Roslin beach hotel, thorpe Bay. All the staff are just great, very attentive and polite, nothing is too much trouble. We had the prawn cocktail starters and the mediteranean vegatable salads. One of us had the roast pork for lunch and the rest of us went for the roast... More
