I took my Ausie mate there for lunch on weekday , he ordered shepherds pie for the "English food experience"...omg what an embarrassment , a tiny portion of reheated muck 89% potato and as I remember over eight quid ( £8 + ). I will never take anybody there again , an absolute rip off !

I have been to the roslin a few times and enjoy myself whenever i go, however the waiting times for drinks orders is very poor, especially out on the decking, I want to point out this is not due to the staff but the fact there are not enough staff working on the decking.

Best home cooked food around. Fresh ingredients and the best place to eat in Southend. I will always come to this resturant even if the hotel is full .

The roslin is a beautiful venue and whilst the food is delicious it comes in very small portions for the cost, as standard for a high class venue

A group of 12 of us visited for dinner for to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. The restaurant was busy and a wedding was also going on in another room. Service was slow, but the meals were all nicely presented and tasted delicious. The wait between meals was quite lengthy, but it wasn't to much of a problem for us... More

A friend and I took an elderly friend for afternoon tea. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for. Excellent service, fresh tea, lovely China, ample to eat and all presented beautifully. We sat in window overlooking the estuary and had a lovely afternoon.

Unfortunately many rate the place, as it has been there a long time and was once about the only place to be. It is just a row of large houses all joined together in a hope of creating a hotel. I'm sorry but hotels have to be built as hotels to have grande rooms not lots of little ones with... More

The roslin has improved since my last visit and definitely for the better. I chose lemon sole for my lunch which was perfect. They also do a 3 course for £20 excellent value. A great wine list won't disappoint. Service was also very good I will be back for an evening meal very soon.
