appalling service! almost 2 hours & left not even getting our lunch!

I visited here with 9 work colleagues today for lunch as it was my last day at work before going on maternity leave. As both my husband and I both work in Southend, this was a convenient location for us to eat as we were going out into town straight from work. The restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere and the decor was interesting and well presented. We were able to walk in without a booking although it was quite early in the... More

We visited after having a hair cut and as it was lunch time Bella Italia was nearby. The bruschetta was a tasteless tomato and bread, missing the basil as you normally get. The spaghetti bolognese was spaghetti without the bolognese just a sauce. The Pinot grio blush was the best but at £17.95 as I suppose ok. Service was acceptable.

I was warned about the terrible service and wasn't disappointed. What took the biscuit was £3.25 for a finger bowl of bog standard frozen chips, decribed as 'chunky' on the menu (they weren't). How does this hole survive in Southend when there are so many better places to choose from? Will be recommending to my enemies

Called in for a lunch as we both fancied a pasta. They were fairly busy but not heaving. Got shown to a table promptly and given menus by a friendly waitress and order was taken promptly. Drinks were a long time coming. Food came in about 30 minutes and I asked the manager to take it away as it was... More

We eat here I guess 5/6 times a year & recently we have been twice within 6 weeks or so. Both times there does seem to be enough staff even though the second time it was really quite quiet mid afternoon. One waiter in particular we thought was a little rude. I gestured to get his attention & he simply... More

Been going to the restaurant for years. Only one bad meal in all that time. The best meals are the pizza and pasta dishes which are full of flavour. The less traditional dishes (steak etc) is perhaps best eaten else where. Go there to eat Italian and you won't be disappointed. Always happy to accommodate children and allow you amend... More

We have not been to Bella in a few years and I can safely say we won't be returning again. In hindsight we should have realised when we walked in and the place was half empty. The service was extremely slow, the food was cold and bland and despite having our 2 year old with us there were no added... More

I have been going to this restaurant for many years but sadly the standard has deteriorated recently. Three times within the last two months we have had very poor service. The first time we put down to shortage of staff. The second time we told staff we were going to the cinema and needed to be served quickly. We weren't!... More

If I could give no stars for this restaurant I would! Truly awful service, food and extortionate price. The staff are unfriendly, inattentive and unhelpful. You are not greeted with a smile or friendly welcome when you arrive. Everything seems like too much trouble for them. We ordered our drinks and were left waiting for 15 minutes at which point...
