I really enjoyed the food here. I had rolled chicken stuffed with chorizo. My partner had plaice with big chunky potato wedges. Both plates were beautifully presented. The service was friendly. A good atmosphere in the bar. The place to go to eat if you're staying the night, like we were, in the Travelodge down the road, before flying out... More

There are many places to eat in the heart of Great Dunmow - each with a different character. We chose the old coaching inn because we like buildings with some history to them. We selected food from the main menu and it was really delicious with scrumpy cider from the tap to drink. We sat outside in the old yard... More

We booked ahead - using Trip advisor for suggestions - a limited menu - however the food was very good - served very quickly - all the staff we met were polite and friendly. Prices average for the area.

We were mid afternoon on a Saturday and desperate for somewhere to eat as we had tried other places and they were either too posh (tablecloths/gastropubs when we were in our scruffs) or had stopped serving. Saracens head were serving bar menu only. Our wait in an empty pub for a 3 baguette meal was rather long. Our second round... More

Had a fantastic meal here, service was excellent and food very well presented. Another table had the burger which they didn't rate but the food that we had was excellent.

Last minute decision to have Sunday lunch at the Saracen's paid off. Excellent, traditional roast (lamb) was well cooked with a good portion of seasonal veg, yorkshire pudding and lovely red wine gravy. Service was quick despite it being Fathers day and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend the restaurant to others and will definitely come again for... More

We decided to visit the Saracens after a long break, we opted for a Thursday night to enjoy also the half price Prosecco, the food was good, solid and well presented. It was the atmosphere and experience that really set this place apart. The service was excellent, much better than our previous visits and despite being very busy, the Manager... More

A friend and I popped in here this Thursday for dinner. Good food, nicely presented, hot when it should be. Good and friendly attention from the staff, despite their being extremely busy. Water glasses topped up without request, a knife replaced as a drop of wine had fallen on it. I observed good care and attention being taken of obviously... More

I did not make it in to this establishment for either food or drink. The posted menu seemed pricey and other options were available. The bar and restaurant are clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. The location is perfect for strolling the streets and wandering to the duck pond for a quiet afternoon, weather permitting. Room rates seemed reasonable when... More
