The heart of the restaurant is a magnificent timbered barn. Originally built in 1372 it is listed as being of architectural and historical importance. Lovely people and service.

Although lacking a little atomsphere if you want a quite dinner for two and a family gathering where you can all be heard this is the place to go. Excellent food and service.

Visited Russells restaurant for the first time on a Saturday evening. 10th wedding anniversary celebration. Met with a warm welcome. Bar area busy, lots of guests had arrived at the same time, so a short wait for a drink. Comfortable surroundings. Perused the menu and our choices were taken whilst in the bar area. Seated about 30 mins after our... More

Many of us think our Sunday lunches are the best and judge eating out by our own standards. I must say the Sunday lunch at Russells comes very close to being of my own high 'home' standard but with that added something else to place it in the resturant category. Service was attentive from our arrival, coats taken, drinks ordered... More

I have dined here on more than a few occasions but this year friends suggested we go here for the Beaujolais Nouveau evening. There are many things I love about this restaurant, the food is excellent, the wine list looks like the Magna Carter and the service is excellent also. I tend to pick up on the little things, like... We took some clients here from Spain food was very good everybody enjoyed it , service was good but the place is in need of a bit of a spruce up to get up to date with the competition around. If you want to enjoy a good meal they definitely deliver.

Just returned from a pre booked party here - will not be returning. Staff started off polite, took our coats, moved a table so our group wasn't split in two. However, service went rapidly downhill. Cold plates, lukewarm food, a huge wait (45 mins) between main and pudding, manager and staff became increasingly incompetent - upset at least two of... More

A bit difficult to find, and parking is around the back, again not easy to locate (it is a small public car park0. The building is lovely inside, apparently an old barn with high vaulted roof, reputed to date from the late 1300’s. Beautifully laid out, gleaming glasses, cutlery and napery. Smartly dressed waiters, small bar for drinks whilst checking... More

Today I was very lucky to have lunch at Russell's with 2 very good friends. Having recently been disappointed with a couple of local restaurants, we decided to try somewhere new and I'm thrilled that we did. We chose the set menu and the food really was excellent. Perfectly cooked pigeon, delicious smoked salmon and a risotto for starters and... More
