First of all, this is a lovely pub with welcoming and friendly staff. However, the menu is a bit limited and is pub grub - absolutely fine if that is what you want. We waited over 40 minutes for our main courses and it was only when the waitress overheard us talking she informed us that ours were being plated up,... More

A real find just outside of Chelmsford. Its a pub yes, buts its a very nice pub. Completely table service and some lovely outside seating overlooking the countryside. The food is really delicious (get the pie!) and service perfect. They have their own cake display by the bar of freshly made, really different cakes which are beyond tempting, Toblerone cheesecake... Highly recommend The Hare. Good menu. Something good for everyone. Relaxed but fine atmosphere. Clean and spacious dining. We will be going back for sure!

Visited for sunday lunch having previously stopped in for a drink and liking the look of the place. The pub has been refurbished in a lovely combination of old and modern. It was busy and bustling and the atmosphere was good. There was a wait for food, around 50 mins, but the polite and friendly staff came over without prompting... More

Our party of 8 enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch served by helpful staff in a lovely, relaxed pub in a pretty setting. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit and we shall certainly be returning. Thank you.

We come here every time we visit family in the area. The setting is very nice and cozy, while the patio gives you great views over the countryside. Always good food and service. Love it.

We attended this pub on a Sunday morning at approx 10.30 am. The pub was busy with nice local people not classless yobs or loud mouthed thugs. We were with our 2 young grandchildren. We were free to sit wherever we liked and chose a table for 4 which was very comfortable, we was greeted by a friendly server who... More

I was hoping one day that perhaps I could go to a restaurant with mid to low expectations and come away with a 'much better than expected' result.....sadly this was not to be in this case. A 'far too busy' for my liking menu got things off to a predictable start, shall I have this,or this,or this,in the end I had,I... More

Set in lovely countryside this pub/restaurant has outside seating. There is a pretty full menu and they offer small plates for those who don't want a big portion. For those having a meal from the normal menu a small loaf of bread is supplied The food is tasty and the service is fine if you are not in a rush
