Surpassed my expectations! Better than some top notch restaurants in London!

One of the best meals I've ever had! Everything about this meal was absolutely delicious - I could not fault it. The staff were friendly and despite it being a small restaurant, I was very comfortable and content. They were super friendly with the kids too. I cannot wait to go back! Every single... read more

We eat out a lot in the Chelmsford area and somehow had managed to never eat here, yet it's probably the best we've had locally! Really very tasty, hot food served quickly. A small restaurant but with a very nice atmosphere.

How do you write a review when its all been said before. Here once more introducing friends to the delights of the Cuckoo. We have followed Brendan & Annette for many years - firstly the Bistro in Mountnessing, then to the Wheatchief , and now the Cookoo, as have many, many others. We all know how good they are, that's why... More

We're so excited to have visited The Cuckoo again. We managed to get a table last Wednesday night but it's advisable to book in advance as its so popular, even midweek!! After ordering our wine, a basket of warm homemade bread was brought over. I had soup to start (roasted tomato, rocket and pesto) as I wanted to try to... More

We shared some lovely sorbet for dessert and eat had a hot drink which came with a cute selection of mixed confectionary. I will... More

This restaurant had been heavily recommended and a peek online at the menu matched our excitement for our recent visit. Sadly, our experience was virtually on par with the previous Trip Advisor Review. The restaurant is small and you are sitting very close to the next table, but hey, that cant be helped - Personally, i found it quite atmospheric... More
