We booked the Cuckoo for a private party to celebrate my mum's 80th Birthday. I would just like to say a big thank you to Annette, Brendan and Shirley for making her day so special. The booking was for 25 of us last Sunday ( the maximum they cater for is 33 I believe). Champagne on arrival a lot of... More

Our second visit to this gem in the countryside. The food was just as great as before with a good range to choose from. Atmosphere is lovely but don't forget to book a taxi if you want a glass of beer or two.

We were met by a friendly happy young waitress who showed us to a lovely table in the corner. A lovely cosy Restuarant with a good atmosphere. We ordered and loved the... More

This restaurant is in a country setting, yet within easy reach of Chelmsford. It is smallish, in what looks like a manor house. The atmosphere is welcoming and the room is tastefully furnished. The staff are very pleasant and efficient. The menu is very interesting. Many dishes can be ordered as either a starter or main course. I particularly enjoyed... More

We visited for Lunch on a busy Thursday but found everything to be as good as usual. Great Service. atmosphere and delicious Food. My wife had a very tasty Crab Salad and I had the Smoked Haddock as Mains - both excellent. Once again well done to the Team - keep up the good work.

Ate here last minute and we were lucky enough to get a booking after a cancellation. The food was really good quality and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. As other reviewers have said the service was slightly below expectations but it did not spoil the evening for us.
