Amazing food

This place has been recommended to me so many times, but I've never managed to get a table. This time I made sure that I was organised, and booked well in advance. I was not disappointed. The food, the wine, the coffee, the service were all excellent. I will certainly be going again.

We had friends visit and booked here as we enjoyed it last time we went. The food yet again was excellent and the service! The fish pie and suet pudding were wonderful but as always the potions were huge. Visit well worth it!!

This is my second visit to The Cuckoo, mainly because it is often difficult to get a table as they get booked up very quickly. That in itself speaks volumes however I cannot stress enough how much it is worth the effort. You will rarely find the qualities of this quirky, friendly, homely and welcoming restaurant coupled with food to... More

Yet another wonderful lunch!!! I had the most amazing Lamb Tagine with Cous Cous. I certainly did not need a dessert but as usual i ordered one!! The apple and cinnamon fritters with cinnamon ice cream just melted in your mouth. Looking forward to my next visit soon.

I struggle to think where there is room for improvement with this resturant, The choice and quailty of food was excellent and service to match.

Everything about this restaurant spoke of quality. The service was unobtrusively efficient, with nobody waiting around for any course. The food was absolutely delicious, with a particular emphasis on the subtle use of spices. The rabbit penne on special was a generous and tasty starter; the pork curry and lamb tagine mains both excellent. Good pancakes (this was Shrove Tuesday)... More

Very cozy and romantic setting. Staff all friendly and good fun. The food served is all home made, even down to the bread and chocolates you get with the coffee. The menu changes with the seasons (as it should if you want to eat quality fresh LOCAL produce) and is always an interesting mix - most people will find something... More

Visited with friends in December and loved the atmosphere straight away. The restaurant is quite small the menu however is not. The service was friendly without being annoying. The starters were a little on the small side but tasted good and presented beautifully. Mains really good. I had the duck and I really recommend it. I cant manage a dessert... More

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday after reading many good reviews and it certainly did not disappoint. Although the restaurant is very small, there is enough room between the tables so it doesn't feel at all crowded. The food was very tasty and the staff were very welcoming. Would definitely recommend it for any occasion! Really good family... More
