Love the new layout

I visited Acanteen with my sister and baby last week. I really love the new layout, plenty of room and good access for the buggy. My wife and I had breakfast in the newly enlarged ACanteen last weekend... The welcome was warm and the offer of coffee was made straight away.....and the coffee arrived swiftly which was a marked improvement from the previous site Our breakfast sandwiches and pancakes were very tasty... We will certainly return, the only reason that prevents a 5 being scored... More

My partner and I visited Acanteens new, bigger, premises for an evening meal to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived a bit early so had some cocktails while we waited, we chatted to the friendly bartenders and sipped our tasty drinks. We had the camembert with bread and onion chutney to start which was beyond delicious! I then decided on lamb... More

What is this place all about? We popped in for a coffee and sandwich, ordered our coffee at the front and then looked for some sandwiches. There was a pile of sausage and cheese (I kid you not) advertised as toasted. Being vegetarian I asked if we could have just a cheese toastie as I could see a half cut... More

I am sorry to hear that you found the bakeshop fast food concept confusing. Its a shame as so many customers are taking advantage of the speedy service & cheaper take away prices that the menu offers. The restaurant part of the canteen is where customers can enjoy being waited on and take full advantage of an estensive menu where... More

Acanteen was always a bit overpriced... but I was happy to pay a bit more because it was such a quirky, nice little place... different from the coffee shop chains that are so common these days... I was then very surprised to find out last week that they have now expanded... Acanteen is now quite a large place (which feels... More

Its a shame that you think that we are more expensive when 95% of our prices have stayed the same. Lots of our prices have actually reduced in the bakeshop which customers are taking full advantage of. Thank you for your comments about service which we take on board and will address with more staff training. More

love the new venue, but this is now the third time i have visited and the service is awful. Each time i have been late saturday afternoon and have been pretty much the only people here, loads of staff, but can't catch anyones eye to order more drinks or the bill.

I've been a long time customer of Acanteen in it's old venue and I think the only downside to it was it's size. They were so popular it was often hard to find somewhere to sit. I've been to their new restaurant a couple of times now and enjoyed it. I got a takeaway sausage and egg sandwich from the... More

Hello, Thanks for your review and agree the cosiness has gone but the hustle and bustle remains. There are so many pluses to the new space - we can serve more people, different zones, private dining and posh loos! I have passed you comments on to our team who truly care what our customers think. We are just into week... More

Both of us loved the old Acanteen, kept returning despite not always being able to get seated - you accepted that because the place was small but busy, the food was great, the staff were friendly and it was what it said, a canteen - no need to book for a soup or a jacket, or a wrap, or breakfast... Just Soup? acanteen doesn't just have soup on the menu - we have home made burgers, pizza, grilled fish, wraps & an extensive brunch menu. abakeshop is a new fast food concept at the front of the canteen where you can purchase freshly made healthy soups - we make 2 per day! We really listen to our customers and in... More

Think this restaurant has lost its way. Heard it had ok reviews but on this visit menu was very limited. Food was extremely average and over priced for what it was. Ordered an Americano and was given a filter coffee which was rank. Was changed when I complained but really poor. Won't be rushing back anytime soon. I had the... More
