Great for dinner or lunch

After expanding to bigger premises this restaurant is great and worth going to. Friendly staff and really nice food. Good sized portions and such tasty food. Greatvfornan evening meal or grabbing a quick lunch. I would definitely go again.

Had a great meal here which filled me up for the day! Cod and Chips were amazing and found the staff friendly and efficient despite being very busy. Really nice experience.

Great atmosphere, food is really good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Really good vegetarian menu too. Music on a Saturday evening was be a bit thumping- but not too loud. Really good experience in one of Chelmsford's top eating places.

Breakfast and brunch here is always a treat with great menu choices. Huge range of GF and some lovely healthy options... The coffee is 'proper coffee' as I would call it and the big open dining area is very quirky, unique and inviting. Will be visiting again to explore more of the menu after some great brunches here....

Have visited several times, the last time being in November as it is so popular that recently we chave not been able to get in. It is a great place for breakfast on Saturday and this sometimes means the overlap into lunch time creates a menu clash. The staff always do their best to find a table and serve promptly... More

I have unsuccessfully tried 4 times to have the pancakes in this local favourite. Either time, date, or staff effort have not allowed this to be possible. It use to be my favourite breakfast spot.

A varied menu and minimalist industrial feel give this restaurant a ,odeon edge. It's a great place to meet a friend or colleague for lunch. A canteen offers fresh meals, hot and cold and many options for a beverage. It's not the cheapest of places but well worth a visit if you're visiting Chelmsford.

Having heard mixed reviews since A Canteen moved to its new premises I was interested to see how it had moved on. We decided to visit for just a light lunch and were not disappointed. It was fairly busy but the well spaced tables allow an uncrowded feel. The varied menu looked interesting and we chose the fish-finger sandwich with... More

Since my last review in November 2014 ACanteen has moved a few doors down from its previous location and now sits adjacent to the river. What had previously been a self-service slightly upmarket cafe is now an unexpectedly cavernous sit down restaurant behind a smaller cafe and cook shop. I've since tried both. The restaurant focuses on hearty British staples... More

It was about 8pm and we just wantef to have a coffee then we found this place. We sat in the lounge area. There is the car area, dining area and another room off that they had a knitting group. I had the salted caramel coffee. It was lovely. We are going back for afternoon tea
