I have been to Acanteen many times and have never been anything other than very pleased with both the food and the servcie. it can get very busy so it is worth making the effort to get there early on the weekend.

Acanteen is an upmarket deli, selling salads, sandwiches, wraps etc. the food is fresh and of fairly good quality, but is rather expensive. You can't buy much for less than £7/£8 and on a sandwich and a drink during your lunch break that's quite a bit! I like the wooden bench style dining and in summer there are chairs outside.... More

Great place, wonderful healthy but tasty food, smoothies and juices are fab, VERY busy a lot but clear why! Seats are beautiful but not great for a long time, busy and loud sometimes but worth it. Freshly cooked so not instant but who needs instant? Go, see for yourself but maybe first time, give 12.30 til 2 a miss. Service... More

Always had good food and service here. Eaten lunch brunch and breakfast. Cakes always good but don't often have room for them as portions tend to be generous! When full the service can be a bit slow but food makes up for it.

While it isn't cheap, it is independent and it delivers on quality. The vegetarian big breakfast was status quo, but the juice and coffee were far better than your average spot. I would recommend trying the filter brew and split it with a friend as it is enough for two, but you can spoil yourself and order it for one... More

A lovely return visit to this gem of a place. We love the atmosphere, the food, the coffee, the tea, the imagination. Some reviewers are critical of the prices, but in our experience they are typical for Chelmsford, and even a little lower than many places. The only reason I cannot give acanteen five stars is simply the incredibly slow... More

Seem like novices. We waited 45 mins for a meal that was not worth the wait! Eggs Benedict cold with hard poached eggs and a frappaccino with no ice?!? Staff were apologetic and refunded us but considering this is an independent business and a great looking venue and menu, I was very disappointed! In the end they closed early and... More

I've been in to Acanteen on several occasions and have accepted the higher than average price for a coffee and a sandwich one because the food is good and two because I like to support local businesses in the face of the corporate mass that is the British high street. Yesterday however I dropped in on a gloriously hot morning... More

I arrived at 11am with my girlfriend to find Acanteen 85% full with people seemingly enjoying their food. We found a table, sat down and browsed the menu before I went to join the substantial queue at the ordering area. I queued for a total of 15 minutes, before I got to the front to be told that the "kitchen... More
