Quirky and luxurious

We stayed in a lodge called Between The Lines at The Bell using a Groupon Voucher. The accommodation was quirky, spacious and very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom/shower was efficient and modern. A very comfortable bed and a patio with a wood burner all added to a good experience. The lodge... read more

We had the hake and chips which was excellent quality but we were shocked to see the size of the portion of fish. It was minute and our 5 year old grandson would have wanted more. Very poor for the price. This is a dish which most pubs offer and this is the first time we have ever been dissatisfied... More

A delightful hotel/pub with a great restaurant, really high class cuisine, and also good bar snacks if you aren't in for a full meal. The rooms are a bit eccentric, although delightfully renovated. There were steep stairs down to the bathroom in our room which aren't ideal for older people. Otherwise definitely to be recommended.

This is one of the better re modellings of country village pubs that has been completed in the Kent Sussex borders over the last few years. It has managed to create a unique character. Quirky details abound. Food was excellent on a Sunday lunchtime, although the idea of serving vegetables on a flat wooden board is a gimmick too far,... More

So much more than a quirky pub in a pretty village .. it's got character and humour. The rooms are to die for and the food is super super tasty. Friendly and helpful staff and who ever is in charge of the gardens and the lodges outside needs a medal .. love it. Will definitely be going back.

Super food, and this pub/restaurant has the best garden at the rear which is perfect for summertime. This and Pashley Manor, make Ticehurst a lovely day out this summer!

We always enjoy visiting The Bell and quite surprised by some of the more recent poor reviews. We have been at busy times like Father's day, evenings and Sunday lunchtime like today. The staff are friendly, hardworking and attentive, food is great with imaginative vegetarian food (not like many pubs which rely on main meals like risotto or pasta all... More

Nice laid back atmosphere, great decor, pretty garden, decent pub food. Friendly efficient staff. The pub aims to become the heart of the pretty village of Ticehurst. It's not a pub full of people who are local to the area though, and that is rather a shame, lots come from London and elsewhere, so there isn't much of a local... More

Appalling management/customer service! No person skills at all. Clearly unable to cope with large groups, particular when there is also a wedding going on. We are all paying customers!! Staff need training, not interested in resolving a problem. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to be disappointed. Cannot comment on the food as , despite having... More
