Quirky, fun pub restaurant

Nice laid back atmosphere, great decor, pretty garden, decent pub food. Friendly efficient staff. The pub aims to become the heart of the pretty village of Ticehurst. It's not a pub full of people who are local to the area though, and that is rather a shame, lots come from London and elsewhere... read more

Appalling management/customer service! No person skills at all. Clearly unable to cope with large groups, particular when there is also a wedding going on. We are all paying customers!! Staff need training, not interested in resolving a problem. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to be disappointed. Cannot comment on the food as , despite having... More

Had a group of 18 people and 2 dogs. Called on the phone 3 times to be told lee or Zoe would call me back. Never happened. I finally called back and spoke to Zoe the events manager who confirmed our booking. Arrived on time to be told that they could not accept dogs in the restaurant, never booked the... More

Really sorry that we failed on this occasion. We like dogs and we like customers, and we like customers with dogs. We've made a few major changes recently. If you'd consider revisiting us, then please contact me directly (and bring the dogs). Kit More

Having visited The Bell on numerous occasions we were extremely disappointed when we decided to take a group of friends there for a meal. We booked a table for 8 people. We had drinks in the garden which was lovely but sadly as soon as we sat down to eat the evening went rapidly downhill. As we started to place... More

A regular visitor or otherwise, we're really sorry to have fallen well short in what sounds like all departments - my apologies. Over the past few weeks we have undergone a number of major changes to ensure that such poor service will not be repeated. Should you consider revisiting us then please do contact me directly. I would be delighted... More

Lovely location in village with modern and quirky touches. Buzzy with a great atmosphere and comprehensive menus without being overloaded with choices.

So much enjoyed the quirky generosity of the original refurbishment of this pub (including imaginative plantings) on early visits and cannot believe it is still under the same management. Extraordinary slow service at the bar considering not hugely full.. asked for menu.. none forthcoming and eventually had to find one lying around.. my wine slurped via a metal measure from... More

Everyone told me this was a fantastic place to have a meal, so I booked, both my husband and I were looking forward to it, arrived early so we had a drink in the garden, went to the table, menus laid in front of us, no offer of a wine list, 10 minutes later he came back for our order,... More

Having heard really good things about The Bell; my husband and I along with two friends visited for dinner. We ordered prossecco and waited well over five minutes at the bar as they had none available and couldn't locate the keys to get some more! The bottle of prossecco arrived, we then waited several minutes for glasses. We had a... More

Stayed for a night in the suite within the pub, quirky excellence! Food was superb, service was good. If your thinking of staying try and book one of the lodges they look fantastic.....especially the "Love Nest" Lovely fire pit with seating in the garden.
