Good Sunday lunch; excellent wine list

Arrived on a Sunday at peak time of about 1:30 so was happy to get a table. They don't take lunchtime bookings, but this is quite a large, rambling pub so you would be unlucky to draw a blank, although they only serve lunch until 2:30. Roast beef was very good; thinly sliced & quite rare. Wine list... read more

After a lovely walk through Walberswick and Southward we returned to The Bell Inn for lunch. It was, as expected, very busy but we were lucky enough to get a table. We ordered at the bar, a simple order of 3 x cod and chips, 1 x ham egg chips ... when we ordered the ham egg and chips the... More

Stopped on a Thursday lunchtime after a walk from Southwold with the dog. The burger was lovely and the chips amazing! We do visit fairly often and will continue to do so!

I came with a large group of friends on sunday the 22nd of feb. The service which is normally really good, was appalling for the most part the staff were helpful and pleasant. However the lady who served our table, who i imagine was management as she was not in uniform, was horrendous. She was rude and unhelpful. One member... More

Had lunch while staying here with friends at the weekend. Very busy pub and the food was nice although could maybe have a larger selection on the menu. Will say the staff could be a little more polite too.

my husband and I ate at the bell over New Year.. The pub is a lovely, quaint inn serving good food.. Judging by the crowds, it is very popular. The staff were a trifle aloof and distracted, but overall a good experience and would highly recommend.

On any given day the Bell is warm and welcoming, the food is a little more standard than The Anchor but all the better for it, it's far more homely and I enjoyed 2 good meals here during my stay. I had the cauliflower and stilton soup followed by steak and ale pie the first night, both dishes were plentiful... More

Fish and chips very nice and lovely atmosphere but the staff need cheering up as miserable and surly. Shame because the pub is lovely and the beers not bad at all.

I have just got back from a lovely walk in Walberswick, at the end of our walk we stopped in for a drink. From previous visits I know the bar staff and overall service has been shocking and extremely rude! Today was no exception the same appalling level of service, rude, ignorant and surly! The pub was really busy, full... More

What a welcoming pub on a cold winter's day. We went there yesterday with our 4 grandchildren plus Dog and were treated to a great hospitality Food was superb and vey well executed. My only caveat is that the mushy peas are not marrowfat peas but simply peas mashed Fish superb as were all the other dishes If you are... More
