We had a 3 fish salad on Sunday and we never tasted something as fresh as this salad. It was very tasty and well presented. We would highly encourage people to go there as both the service and the food was brilliant. They also dog friendly which is a bonus.

We sat out on the front patio which is great for people watching. We had a few beers and lunch. The menu had plenty to choose from with a lot of homemade options. My husband had ham,egg and chips and after being told they didnt have any beans to go with the fish instead of peas I went for the... More

Went to this pub as we stayed next door, so it was convenient. The pub was ok, could do with a bit of brightening up. Its very popular because of the location and although I did not eat the food looked fine. Food and drink quite expensive, but I put this down to its location. Its very convenient for both... More

First the good - the food was OK. Good selection and was probably the tastiest of all the gastro pubs in Southwold. Next the bad - the service. We made the mistake of daring to ask about food before 6.30pm... The response was rude, abrupt and not what you'd expect for people in the hospitality trade.

Visited for lunch and sat on the front with our dogs on the picnic tables. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and a portion of chips. Sandwiches were tasty, simple, no frills... which is sometimes exactly what you want...

The Red Lion is a no frills typical pub. Many patrons are just drinking but there is a wide selection of food available in both the bar & restaurant area. We both opted for pies; mine a chicken, mushroom & tarragon and my husband steak & ale pie. Both were served with new potatoes & a good selection of tasty... More

Popped into the Red Lion early on Friday evening, already busy with lots of people sitting outside. Owner - landlord suggested a table on the large conservatory. Three local butchers sausages with two fresh fried eggs and a mountain of chips. Proper pub grub after a long days work. Not cheap at just under a tenner but as with so... More

Great food here at the Red Lion, good quality and large portions, the service is quick and the quality good. Tied in with good drinks selections and efficient bar staff we used it as a base for the majority of a recent stay! Bookings inside are recommended in the high season and nothing was too much trouble - one of... More
