Popped in for a quick drink on a very hot day and were served politely and quickly. Kids were made welcome too.

Popped in for lunch. Food was standard pub food but cooked well & reasonably priced for quality & quantity. A fair selection of real ales and right next door to the Adnams shop

Waited for this tasty dish to come back on the menu..chunks of salmon, haddock ,cod and small prawns in a white cream sauce, topped with sauté potatoes on the top..options on side salad or vegetables of the day..Can really taste the different fish within this homemade dish..ample portion that is surprisingly filling..well worth the waiting..local and visitors alike enjoy this... Very average food almost supermarket quality! Very poor vegetarian option and far too many chips. Maybe take the kids, borrow some if necessary to eat up the huge portion of chips. Go somewhere else for pudding. Not a place to eat at although the beer is fine.

We visited the red lion on Saturday evening, managed to find a table where the 4 of us enjoyed some great dishes, including a chicken, leek and Stilton pie, and venison and mushroom pie. All the dishes came with side dishes of vegetables and we all agreed these were cooked to perfection. The service was first class and welcoming. Well... More

Very friendly pub with great service but food is very average. Suspect microwave/ boil in a bag cuisine. Fish pie had very little content; full of liquid/salmon bland in the extreme/cassoulet tasteless.... Seemed to be out of a tin! Fish and chips ok. Misunderstanding over bill excellently dealt with. Beer and wine really good.

Great pub on a wet windy day. We had a lovely lunch very good value, fresh and tasty. Everywhere was clean. Good menu choice. Very dog friendly with water bowls and plenty of floor space. Huge thank you to the barman who gave us a towel for our sandy wet dog.

We always visit this pub when ever we visit Southwold. Its a really nice old traditional pub which serves lovely beer (according to my husband!) the food portions are HUGE and good value for money. Lovely place to take kids - we will be back again soon!

As promised after our last visit, we returned to the Red Lion for a sandwich lunch and were not disappointed. The bread is good and the fillings generous. The staff are also willing to make adjustments. I wanted the smoked chicken, which I know from previous experience to be delicious, but I did not want the chutney which accompanied it... More
