Great location, nice pub. Friendly bar staff and nice menu - we had lunch there, really nice sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Went back the next day for a pre-dinner drink. It was busy with a good vibe, clearly popular with both locals and tourists. Definitely worth a visit.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - tempted in by the prospect of (a whole) lobster salad at a very reasonable price. In fact, we ate here all 4 nights of our break - wine reasonably priced, good location, nice atmosphere and also the advantage of being able to book ahead - not always possible at... More

After seeing such great reviews on this website, I was looking forward to eating here. But I have to say that I found the food disappointing! We ordered grilled fish and chips. The fish was very soggy and the chips were deep fried French fries. However the service was good and it's a lovely place to sit and drink just... More

We visited here on a Wednesday lunchtime during half-term week. When we arrived, it was packed, just about got a table inside the small pub. We ordered our meals at the bar, lovely service received from the small team of staff. We ordered the Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato granary sandwich which was lovely, loads of filling provided. We also had... More

We had fish & chips and smoked salmon salad last night with a lovely bottle of wine. Both very good. Seemed a popular place to eat and drink which doesn't surprise me. Worth a try if you're in Southwold.

Had a fabulous meal. The battered skate and chips were superb. Adnams Beer was as good as ever. The staff were friendly and professional. A great night out was had by everyone. Will be back very soon.

Very nice pub where you are as happy to just have a drink as a meal. The food was good and well presented the steaks on steak night Thursday were very good value. This does what it says on the tin with no pretension and you would be more than happy to have a meal here anytime. Please clean the... More

Great place, nice décor, AMAZING fresh and tasty whole skate, very good Adnams beer. The skate was huge and came with chips and peas and was under £12. I never had such a tasty and fleshy skate before. Shame we were too full to have pudding Highly recommended

Good quality and a fair price along with good choice of ales. Tables can be booked and a short walk from the center of town

We had lunch here on the bank holiday weekend and found it very enjoyable. Managed to get a table straight away, and although they said there would be a wait for the food (they were clearly busy) I think we only waited 20-30mins. Very tasty food, and a good selection of beers on tap (Adnams of course!). Service was good.
