An interesting menu

In so many, otherwise good restaurants, the menu is somewhat predictable, so it was refreshing to come across The Anchor Inn with it's more interesting dishes. Our starters included tomato and fish soup as well as grilled sardines both of which were excellent. The pigs cheek and scallops were... read more

Had a first class meal here last Saturday evening. The food was of a high standard, the staff were friendly and efficient, the prices were sensible and the atmosphere in this dog friendly establishment was what you would expect of a very good English Pub.

What was meant to be a very special evening quickly turned into a stressful one thanks to the extremely rude and arrogant owner of The Anchor. Having ordered the Lobster from the specials board with an £18.50 price tag- the dish arrived and the edible part was matching in size to that of a king prawn. After discussing this issue... More

I was not impressed by my burger at all it was very greasy and tasted of spiced sawdust I only managed to eat 2 mouthfuls and at £14.95 was not cheap, someone did eventually come over to ask if everything was ok I said no I didn't like my burger it was very spicy and just not nice. I was... More

Great food and atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience. We've been there before catching up with friends and family and have never been disappointed.

The Anchor is our 'local' and used to be our favourite place for 'pub grub' Although the food, especially the fish, is still always excellent, the menu and prices have, over the past months, become somewhat gentrified A shame for us, but great for visitors and holiday-makers We shall continue to eat there, just maybe not so often!

Booked for a Tuesday evening a dinner for two, place was busy so could not fit us in till eight thirty. We arrived a little early and were shown to a nice table in the bay window of the bar area. The menu was interesting and varied, we had starters, mains and shared a pudding. I washed mine down with... More

This superb restaurant/inn looks absolutely nothing from the outside...but, and it's a very BIG BUT, it is filled with hidden treasures. One meal here, even the lightest of snack lunches and you're hooked...perhaps they should call it The Hook! The interior is unpretentious, thank goodness the owners did only as much work to it as was needed for comfort; it... More

Came with friends after their son raved about the food. Very friendly staff with a good menu and a specials board. The food was excellent best burger in the area, lobster very good as was the lamb rack. Good choices with the puddings. Overall very good food but a bit pricy, we will be back!
