A gem

Had lunch with family today at the Anchor. Given a window seat so we could enjoy the winter sun. Not big eaters so only ordered a mains and dessert. A really good choice on menu - and super desserts! All four had a different dish - and all were excellent. There was a slight mix up with the... read more

We regularly visit North Norfolk & The Anchor Inn along with The Victoria, The Dun Cow & White Horse are our staple haunts. The menu was excellent, we selected the venison pie which was sublime, absolutely first class. A nice new addition (to us anyway) is the wide range of flavoured ice creams for afters as well as sorbets. Very... More

Wow. This place not only offers a warm, cosy and friendly welcome, it offers some of the most superb food I've had in a while, in a relaxed pub style atmosphere. A good selection of wines and beers with charming staff and owners. We only just arrived in town for a winter break and would definitely already ear mark this... More

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful late Sunday lunch after a brisk stroll along this lovely stretch of Norfolk Coast line. Ensuring we had booked, we arrived at 2.45pm to a busy and buzzing atmosphere. Having over endulged the night before I choose the Pan Fried Cod with crushed potatoes, the flavours were delightful, pleasantly sutle with a rich... More

We have wanted to go to the anchor for quite a while as we had heard excellent reviews. The food quality was excellent, however for Sunday lunch it was just too busy and noisy. Service was a bit disjointed, i put this down to how busy it was, all the waitresses were very helpful. Would recommend roast beef, game stew... More

We have been to the Anchor before and enjoyed our meal but today, I think, we must have been unfortunate. We had booked a table for Sunday lunch and we know they get very busy.but the service was soooo slow, waiting for our main course for more than forty minutes and when it arrived my husbands meal( fillet of bream)... We were a party of 6 and unusually sampled 5 different mains between us. Everyone was delicious. I had duck and I think it could be one of my favourite meals of 2016. The duck was perfectly cooked as were the accompanying vegetables. It will take some beating. We also had puddings which were just as good. My husband thought his... More

We ate here at lunchtime and were advised to book early. The staff were solicitous and the food was basic but tasty. I had fish chowder which was both tasty and filling. The haddock and chips were huge and the only strange factor was that one had to have a beef burger cooked medium to well done by order of... More

Really kind and polite stuff, reasonable prices for the quality of food that you can find! Great the souffle and the vegetarian dish: tasty gnocchi with cheese, mushroom and rocket salad, yummy!

How did we manage to overlook this little treasure? Must have scooted by so many times on our frequent trips to north Norfolk and yet never set foot through the door until now. We all thought that the menu here was slightly more contemporary than some of our usual haunts, and really well carried off too. The staff were friendly... More
