Traditional pub with great pub food

Visited over Easter. Whilst small and cosy the menu is extensive and the quality of food very good. Combined with a great selection of local ale its the perfect place to enjoy a nice meal and a tipple.

My husband and I came here to eat on a Monday, which was fortunate as the pub has a Monday Madness Meal for £5. My husband had homemade steak and kidney pie with roasted root vegetables, which he said was delicious. I had soup and we shared a pudding of Eton Mess, which was lovely; fresh cream, meringue and delicious... More

Very friendly staff, good pub grub and a specials menu that was a cut above. Good selection of ales too. Needed to book over the Easter weekend - it was busy with locals and holiday makers alike.

We visited one lunchtime and found the pub had been recently refurbished and is very comfortable and welcoming. The staff were all friendly and attentive A good choice of real ales was available, we had the Moongazer Gold which was very good. We chose a table and sat down, there was no pressure to order food but we asked for... More

We went here after reading the reviews and weren't disappointed. A small place with a combination of locals and visitors it has a great atmosphere. A good selection of traditional pub food and great real ales make a winning combination. Even had some things to do to keep the kids happy while the food came.

This is the way to run a pub! We were staying in the next village and decided to eat here. Being strangers we didn't know the opening hours and arrived at 5.45pm to find the pub still shut. As we drove into the car park the landlady came out the side door and said they didn't open until 6pm but... More

We stopped here for some lunch on a Sunday on our way to Binham Priory. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff. The food was great - I had a bowl of chilli with homemade nachos which were fantastic! We will definitely be returning here!

Having enjoyed many holidays in North Norfolk we tried this pub several times under the previous landlord, only to find they did not welcome children in the bar (we were told we could eat outside) and when we did return without children several years later we found a very disappointing food offering. So, in the knowledge that the pub was... More

One goes into an "English pub" and anticipates a menu of chips or salad or chips and salad with a cooked or cold something. However good it is, one knows that there is another pub down the road serving just the same. "The Chequers" in Binham bucks that trend. Firstly, it is a real pub with locals drinking real ale...
