Small but fantastic

Not much I can write apart from how good the food was really, we chose this pub on our visit to Fakenham purely based on the reviews on here and we were not disappointed. We both chose the Western Burger and you could tell instantly that it was handmade - as described on the menu - it was full... read more

We were a party of four adults and pre-booked a table for lunch. On arrival, we were shown to our reserved table in a very nice location next to the window. Our drinks order was taken promptly and was advised that there was a "specials menu" on offer in addition to the normal Al a carte menu. We all chose... More

This was recommended to us and it lived up to that recommendation. It is a fantastic village inn with food to die for. The burgers are homemade and I had the Western one. The flavour was divine with homemade chips and coleslaw. This is a must if you are in the area.

This is a fantastic well run pub and restaurant. The authentic home cooked food is outstanding and you get an excellent welcome by all the staff. They should be number one on the Fakenham restaurant list by a long way! Make sure you book as they are very popular due to the fact everywhere else close by is Thai!

This comfortable, renovated, historic inn is a delight in every way, from the picnic tables that line the exterior, to the views across Front Lane to flint houses and the country butcher shop, to the well stocked bar, to the fantastic food. This is the second time I have been here in the past few months. Friends took us here... More

Wonderful Sunday roast today at very reasonable price. Excellent ales, good menu, lovely landlady, friendly staff and locals. Bertie treated to dog biscuits by the personable barman. Will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent and traditional Norfolk pub with a very good selection of wines and local ales. Came back in the evening for dinner and was not disappointed. Service excellent and food was non fussy, well cooked and extremely good value with a very pleasant ambience. Definitely worth a stop and stay!

It was shame to be driving as would liked to have sampled some of the real ales, but the food was very good which was the reason for our chance stop here when driving through the village. Plenty of traditional favourites and specials on the blackboard too. We all enjoyed our meals which were of decent size for the price... More

The Chequers was just down the road from our holiday cottage. Couldn't be better - whether you wanted a full blown meal or a snack - it came well presented and served by lovely friendly staff. Obviously a great pub - full of locals!

Welcoming tidy atmosphere and helped my handicapped wife. We enjoyed our meals for the most part, loved the whitebait, but the sea bass, although excellent, was not a favourite of mine, but I am sure another person would revel in it
