This is the place to eat when in Svalbard. You probably want to test other restaurants too but dont bother, you will get the best service, environment and food right here!

The Kroa is quite cozy and the service is okay. The food, however, was less than exciting. One of us had fish which was much too salty, the other one had a rather mediocre hambuger. The pizza is not reccomended to lovers of real Italian pizza, maybe not surprisingly, it's the American type: thick crust, heavy toppings with lots of... More

This was a great experience! We had not booked in advance, the place was almost full, but the very accomodating waitress quickly moved some tables and chairs about and made room for us. (You should probably book in advance.) The level of service did not decline throughout our visit: Efficient and friendly. The whole party fully agreed this was one... More

The sunny terrace was a fun place to have a beer and lunch. We ate dinner here twice - some of the courses (the reindeer starter) were delicious, but I'd say the food was nice, rather than excellent or anything to write home about.

I'll start with the fact that I would eat here again because the food is great! We had reindeer and whale as an appetizer followed by a burger and halibut main courses. The fish was out of this world, so was the burger. Skip the whale and get another reindeer appetizer. Chase it down with beer as you'll find wine... More

interesting blue building with a veranda and a bay window, rough benches outside, stumps covered with skins to sit on inside, the dining room is divided into parts with pulled seal pups skins (disgusting as for me). Ordinary swalbardian menu : I could not appreciate the so called Grillet (a steam salted code), but steaks were good.

A lovely little culinary experience. As the Chinese travelling with me said: "A little civilization in the far north". The interior provides an amazing atmosphere, like an old trapper's lodge, lost in time. In a way it gave the impression I would expect from a wild west salon, including a respectable bar. Dropping by in the day should be fine,... More

Good honest Arctic food. Do not expect a gourmet meal, but do count on excellent service, rustic atmosphere and WiFi. Do not miss this one.

The food was good, the atmosphere was good, and the servers were friendly. Had pizza twice (it was excellent) and the "catch of the day" once, and was quite satisfied.
