Not the inventive place of years past

We have been fairly frequent customers of this quirky establishment (about 6 times a year), but we feel that the palace has lost some of ts charm. It was never inexpensive, but that was ok when their offerings were unique and tasty. In our two most recent visits, dinner menu offerings were pricey... read more

My wife and I went to the Chowder House on Tuesday night with high expectations based on friends visits and reviews we have read. we did not use any coupons or groupons and were looking forward to an excellent meal. My wife's French onion soup was not hot and my wdge salad had a lemon undertone that was not indicsated... More

Incredible seafood. The restaurant has a great ambiance with a very friendly and efficient staff. This is a bring your own favorite wine, beer or alcohol of choice. There is a small "cork" fee.

I arrived for lunch one afternoon and found the lunch menu with high prices for a bowl of soup being too expensive. It said $ 6.00 for a bowl of soup so I asked to see the size of bowl. I looked over the menu and found that the prices were too high for what was described. Seafood must cost... More

Oddly, I like their chowder the least of anything. Great for unusual sandwiches at lunch. I have had a few dinners at The Chowder House that are genuine "foodie" quality meals. The unusual hippy head shop atmosphere is fun and the servers are all pro's. Not sure who the cook/chef is, but they are excellent and can come up with... More

Went to chowder House for the first time, and it won't be the last ! Love the warm, bohemian atmosphere and friendly greeting ! Art painted right on the walls, kinda Key Westy. Lobster bisque was fantastic, homemade white french dressing on the salad was delicious ! I ordered the snapper special, which melted in my mouth . My husband... More

Went twice over two weeks, ordered the same things both times. While the crab cakes were good both times the ravioli was great the first time and terrible the second time. Both visits were on weekday evenings and there were very few diners. When the food is good it's pricey but worth it. The same server both visits and she... More

The positive: both dishes (seafood pappardelle and pad Thai) were delicious, as was the desert (salted caramel cheesecake). Love the decor--as another reviewer stated, reminiscent of Key West. The drawbacks: No bread with your meal. Portions are light, and whatever it says you get with your entree is what you get: no vegetables, salad, etc, which makes these tasty--but relatively... More
